i had gotten some glow needles from a speed-o-meter workshop and today i replaced my CD-70s stock needle with glowing one. these needles can just be replaced but glow is not much. glow can be improved by using a bulb or LED under the needle.parts required:1- glowing needle 2-LEDs 3-wires + old speaker coil 4- soldering iron and solder 5-insulation tape 6-Lamp(for good light at workspace) 7-1k ohm resistor(500 ohm one for high intensity) 8- any 3 volt battery for checking LEDtime required :1 hour
everyone has some old mobiles at home. i had an old sony ericsson W580i. this mobile has lots and lots of LEDs. most are white but some are 3 colour ones. i took one LED. then took wire out from a speaker coil(2 pcs) easily available from any electroics store for 5-10 rupees. this wire is coated and is easy to use. when this wire is soldiered coating is burnt. it you can not understand it use thin regular wire. now soldered LED terminals to it. light up LED from 3 volt battery and check that at what POSSIBLE positing of LED the glow is best(uniform and bright) then open speedometer and take out speed-o-meter plate. fix LED to it with insulation tape or any bonding thing. not connect wires from LED bulb wires through 1k resistor. you can use 500 ohm one for high glow but i prefer dim glow. also with 1K ohm resistor LED is safer. attach needle and test run before closing. LEDs need correct polarity so if led does not enlighten change connection and recheck. i used orange one finally and white one will be used in my cuore. then close and enjoy beautiful glow.
nice work.......................
