DIY: Home made Helicopter Made by two brothers in Peshawar, Pakistan

This is brilliant. I heard about these two brother that made Ultra Light Glider power by an internal combustion engine two years ago. Now they have done it again. They have a made a fully function, ultralight Helicopter. This is how any nation develops, by its own people. I live in Michigan, not far from Dearborn, where 100 years ago, similar type of man, Henry Ford made history by making a mass produced affordable car for everyone, called Model T Ford. Henry Ford did not go to any former College or University he was a self taught man. Another man, Thomas Edison, the Famous American inventor of the Light Bulb, and also Phonogram (earlier form of Tape recorder)and movie camera, he was also a brilliant man with no formal education, he was also self taught, grew up very poor, and went to libraries and taught himself basic things about science by experiments.

No, This is a Helicopter, Ultralight but still a Helicopter. The Gyrocopter has a propeller that pushes the aircraft forward along with wings for added lift. The helicopter uses Rotor Blades to control the lift and tilt forward for vectoring and forward motion, and and counter rotation blade at the tail, which this seems to have. Ultralight helicopter have been made before in the developed world by individuals, along with gyrocopters. But this is first for Pakistan. They have also made an engine powered glider few years back. Brilliant brothers with no formal engineering degrees, but a real Vision, Dedication and will to make things happen.

This has a counter rotation blade in the back (which only a helicopter has), not a propeller a Gyrocopter has for forward thrust along with wings.

What Henry Ford did was genius; he took a sci-fi idea and made it a house hold thing. It was the genesis of a revolution. Today we owe a lot to internal combustion- it's the wheel of its time- and a lot of it ends up to Ford.

And Edison was a great an inventor. Arguably one of the greatest ever. He designed a lot of things out of nothing, that was some witchcraft of his time. Today in the age of computers and quantum physics, we probably cannot even apprehend how difficult it must have been to come up with a 1000 inventions out of thin air.

Now, this is not an invention, not a discovery, not an original idea, not a ground breaking theory, and not even a mass production. This is significant at no level at all.
People all over the world commit to such challenges at personal levels, but that never changed the world.

Oh I see. Well, it may very well be a helicopter. That long chain drive doesn't inspire confidence, but like you said, every initiative should be encouraged. Good luck to them!

Something new? Helicopters were made in the early 1920's, I cannot fathom anything new here. This is just a make shift chopper. Yes, bravo to them for making this in their backyard (errrr rooftop) but that's about it.

Nice effort, but main/tail rotor hub, controls, rotor itself, all seems to be borrowed from some other light helicopter. rest is just local assembly.

Have you ever seen anyone in Pakistan making a plane or a chopper? they did. so it is new for me at-least, considering the negative stuff for which we are famous around the world. they came up with something positive. something we can brag about. we need to appreciate them for their talent in making something like this having limited resources rather than having de-motivating comments. i hope they don't sometime surf on the internet and find your comment cause it will hurt their passion.

Their effort must be appreciated even though something like this has been done before by others. What they need is proper training and education so they can truly capitalize on their skill and effort. There are a lot of people in Pakistan who have the passion, but they lack formal education and training.

There are one bed apartments, getting sold for some 10 millions, they can't fly either- but an Elsa doll of 1000 rupee worth can- so what's your point?

That said, I think 3.5mil is way too much for this contraption. Either they've been idiots or they're trying to over evaluate their little stunt to claim great royalties later.

Can anyone else smell an other Agha Waqar in the oven, or is it only me?

agha waqar paani waale mk2 going on here. The media and news worthiness of Pakistan has been going down - but this is a new low, You can buy a kit and make this - spray paint your name on it and claim it "eejaad"

call news channel and get on TV - then get invited to president house and have chai paani.

if you look closely the tail end of it looks like freshly chopped off guyed radio tower section. same paint too - sections are in red and white.

The thing that make bugs me is that just because some one at in the media group- or houses of parliament- didn't pay much attention in the class; well it doesn't mean that physics sheds it's skin and get new layer of rules every now and then.

i hope pakistani citizens r allowed to fly freely, heard u gotta pay millions to CAA if u r even flying your own chopper,
