You are right about there being no major inventions in Muslim countries in the past 250 years. That is a true fact, but who is responsible. WE ARE.
West is NOT to be blamed for our fall. But also think about what led to West's Renaissance in the 15th century. It was our Muslim ancestors, who were blessed by Almighty Allah (SWT), and whole world was brought under their feet. The Science bloomed under Early Muslim Era, also acknowledged by the west. The Astrolabe, the instrument of naval navigation, was invented by Muslims.
European taught the Medical books, written by Avicenna (Ibn-e-Sina) up till 18th Century in famous European Universities.
The Convex Lens was invented by Muslims which was eventually used by Europeans to invent the Telescope and Microscope.
The Soap making process which gave Europeans a chance to finally be able take a bath. Did you know the Europeans in dark ages European who did not shower for months used to become suspicious of a person who bathed regularly to have secretly converted to Islam, as Islam obligates a person to stay clean.
Algebra was invention of Muslims, The Process of Algorithm ( from Al-Khwarazam) was a Muslim invention, do you know that in all computer language use iterations of algorithm.
Muslims started the Science of Chemistry, derived from the word Al-Chemy.
Also, it was Arabs who invented the numerals 0-9, which made the modern mathematics possible, without Arabic Numeral world still would have been using Roman Numerals which would have prevented and restricted the advancement in mathematics as we know it, without the use of simplified numerals such as Arabic Numerals.
There were other inventions that Muslims invented and even Western world acknowledges them.
But to your point in the last 250 years, Muslims are mostly to be blamed, why, because we turned away from true teachings of Allah (SWT) and Islam.
Islam and Quran challenges mankind to STUDY the world and Universe Around them, and educate themselves to they can recognize and praise their true creator better. That is what Early Muslims were, true Believers in Islam and much closer to Science than today's literally uneducated Muslims, even those with high sounding degrees are truly illiterate as they do not know and praise Allah (SWT) and consider their degrees as their provider and become arrogant, do not share their knowledge, do not spread their Wealth and Knowledge given by Allah (SWT) as a test for them.
In the West, I have seen great scholars of Islam, who were previously devout Christians and highly Educated people, that truly accepted Islam, based first on Guidance from Allah (SWT), and also their own research and finding Islam to be the only true path.
Islam will Rise again Insha-Allah, and most probably from the WEST and Western Muslims. As Born Muslims, we have failed to understand Islam, which is the true tragedy and which is the reason for our downfall. If we had Followed Islam truly, education, science, all the inventions would have continued to be hallmark of Muslim scientists from 15th Century onward, where this connection was lost.
