Hey guys,
Been wanting to post this but I just found the time.. Couple of months back there was a burst of rain.. 1 hour of non stop violent rain.. Though I'm very careful with my car, I did have to get somewhere that day..
Sadly I had to cross this patch of road behind a bridge near my place where there was water up to a height above my knees.. and it was gushing towards me. I was following a guy in his brand new city and thinking, this guy will be careful and won't take any road that'd harm his new car.. but I was wrong...
Haha as a result, I followed him - elated that my car did not stall in water so deep, I came out to find some of it (a lot of it) had seeped into my car and my car's floor was drenched.
My car started smelling bad and I really needed to go to one of those professional inter-cleaners to get it fixed but I had so much work at the office, I'd get out late at night. Sooooooo... there was a big strike the day an MQM leader was murdered.. and I decided to try my hand at it.. Of course with a lot of help from my friends.. Wouldn't have been possible otherwise.
The pictures will tell you the rest of the story:
Taking out the back seat.. This was the first step

After that we took out the passenger seat.. There were some electronics which needed to be disconnected.

Starting work on the driving seat

My boys from the apartments
kind enough to help me out - without them it wasn't possible

unscrewing everything

The seats, arm rest, part of the console, door side panels are all out..

This was the really difficult stage as the carpet is in one piece, its very difficult to get it out from the area behind the centre console.. We thought of cutting a slit to take it out but my friend managed to loosen up a part such that it came out in one piece
took out the carpet, now taking out the underlay.. This impressed me, a very thick layer of underlay was used by Honda.. I didn't think they would be this thorough..

more underlay..

All seats, other parts, carpet and underlay are now removed..

The tools that did the trick

this is what it looked like stripped

preparing the dirty carpet for a wash..

the carpet is dirty.. the bucket is orange

using all sorts of cleaning agents to make sure the carpet gets a nice and clean wash..

Leaving the carpet to dry

Stage 1 and Day 1 of the DIY complete - the underlay was also washed and left to dry on another terrace we have.. I let the carpet and the underlay dry overnight (it wasn't required for the carpet but the underlay was very thick) and the rest to be completed the next day.. Pictures will be added shortly..
PICTURES OF DAY 2:
The next morning, got down to work again, the carpet and the underlay were nice and dry..

Sweeping the dirty floor of my car..

I used a mixture of surf and bleach (bleach was also used in washing the carpet and was very effective

nice and clean now

setting the underlay back into place

This was after the carpet was put back in and we were putting back all the nuts and screws

my boy setting the painful part of the console that made it hard for us to take the carpet out/put it back in

still fixing

I'm connecting the amp

all set

happy that we are done with the complete job almost, just have to put the seats back in

I'm happy with the job..

some pictures of the car after it was complete and seats were put back in

It was a hard day's work for 2 days.. but in the end it was well worth it. The satisfaction you get after completing a job like this is just amazing..
To conclude I'd like to say, if you wanna try this once for the fun, do this DIY, otherwise the professionals who charge you about 1500 bucks its quite worth it. In my case I couldn't find the chance to go and just HAD to do it cause I couldn't stand it.
Thanks for checking out the thread.. Spread the DIY Love..
