I have 92 Corolla (AE100) and it came with aftermarket crystal headlights (Taiwan) previous owner replaced stock halogen bulbs with 100/90w Osram halogen bulbs and modified wires and added 2 relays to increase current. left headlight is old. it has chrome faded above bulb (turned to brown colour, little area around spot discoloured chrome)
Left headlight recently replaced and no sign of damage so far.
I've heard that aftermarket headlights not designed for 100/90 bulbs.
I worry about if new reflector also damage if I use 100/90 bulbs
so my questions / ideas:
1. Replace 100w bulbs with 60/55w halogen bulbs
2. Replace halogen with 35w Bi-Xenon HID
I have 35w bi-xenon HID on my motorcycle now 4 years. maximum time I drive in the night is 2 hours. now I can see around 2cm spot above the bulb melted / looks like tiny bumps appeard in plastic and chrome.
Experts, what your ideas?
Will HID kits further damage reflectors more than halogens?
