I don't know if i made the biggest mistake here but I recently replaced the CVT in my City 1.3L (L13A) IDSI. It wouldn't engage anymore. I swapped out the transmission with a japan surplus after a friend recommended me a supplier. The transmission was pulled from a 1.5L L15A VTEC but he told me that the bell housing and mounting holes are identical to my city so it should be no problem.
We installed it, ran the start clutch calibration and test drive. So far so good. Until we drove in the highway we noticed a problem. The transmission isn't shifting and the RPM goes up to 3500-4500 and stays there until it shifts. A workaround that we did is to turn on 7-speed mode and it stopped doing that.
Do we need to tune the ECU to better work with the transmission?
