Dear Pakwheelers,
PLease read the complete thread as it mentions the story of finding a new cover as it happened.
I bought a car of my dreams Toyota Revo last year Alhamdulillah and so naturally i wanted to protect it by putting a nice waterproof cover over it. Over the last year I have purchased two covers Rs. 3500 and Rs. 5500 but both failed me in less than a month. They were not waterproof as mentioned in the advertisement.
These covers costed less money so I decided to invest in a good cover for my car. I saw an advertisement for Auto X premium microfiber cover during my research. I talked on phone to their customer representative and upon high praises and claims of their cover I decided to buy it. It costed me 22 thousand rupees in June 2022.
After the cover got delivered, when ever I went to remove the cover of my car i saw some water marks on the inside of the cover on the car body. At first I thought that these were from me leaving the car a bit wet before covering. Later on I started seeing these water marks often. When the cover was new I saw that rather than the water beading up on the surface, it got absorbed. Actually, to be honest when one gets scammed or lied to one doesnt wanna believe that they have made a 20k mistake. So I stayed in denial and after two months of this I finally decided to reach out to the Company AUTO X. Also when I got the cover I was daily driving my car but now the car stays in cover for a week sometimes and that's when i noted standing water on the back lid cover and roof of the car.
Upon my complaint they asked me to prove it. I told them that they can come and check for themselves. No one came and then I decided to make a video review (screenshots uploaded here). So I did that and sent them. Again no reply.
I then called them and asked why there was no response and they said that we have sent the video to the vendor and waiting his reply. Now, I m thinking what do I have to do with this? Why am I suffering the delay as the fault is on their part. Anyways, I waited. What could I have done? And again no reply. Sent a voice note then a text, nothing.
I am the kind of person who has a lot of patience in these matters and did not abuse anyone or talked harsh at all. I just wanted a response. But, I got none. I called again and the representative told me the most amazing and silly explanation;
"Sir ap ne cover ko pressure se pani lagaya ha is liye leak kiya ha"when i told that the test video is tap water pressure the he said ;
"Sir, it's good for light rain but as it rained heavily in Pakistan so the cover is not meant for heavy rain"
For a second or two i was speechless whilst thinking if they thought i was a victim of floods .I live in Lahore fyi. The guy even told me that beyond a certain millimeter rain the cover doesn't work which is not mentioned in the advert and i have the recording from auto X claiming the cover is 100% waterproof otherwise I wouldn't have bought the cover. The weird thing is that they have changed the ad. wording to just the microfiber cloth and removed the word waterproof. Now, I told this guy to give me either contact no. of someone who is incharge or have them call me.
As of now he has assured me that he will have someone get back to me but I highly doubt it.
My request to anyone who knows Auto X guys personally to take my issue to the owners and help me sort this out. I chose Auto X as they are a reputable name. In recent past my car was installed with a faulty product from another yet very reputable brand (not Sehgal motor.pk) worth 50k and it took me 3 weeks to replace it. At Least they replaced it.
This post is made for knowledge and awareness of other pakwheelers. So, they can understand if a car cover can be fully waterproof or not and to see my experience with Auto X. Hope this helps someone.
