V6,is a 6 cylndr engine,v8 is 8 cylnder n 10 is 10 n 12is 12 cylinders but thy av 1 thing in common that all r in a "V" shape like 4 v12 6 on each side shaping as a "V".

V6 means 6 cylinder engine v8 eight cylinder and so......but its "V" type engine not common In-line engine we have in our cars...pistons connected opposite to each other and it looks like "V" means one on left side and one on right side with slopes so it look likes "\/" so its V engine

V indicates the placement of cylinders and 4/6/8/10/12 are the number of cylinders. V engine are smaller in size compared to inline engines.Mostly V engines are used by nissan and american cars.
