Geely will buy Volvo from Ford Motors this year. Chinese auto industry has grown very rapidly. Few years back they were producing cars which struggled to meet international safety and quality standards (performed miserably in crash tests, etc). Now their auto-makers are producing quality vehicles, their low quality image is changing and increasingly they are making their presence felt in more and more countries.

A common misconception is that some chinese auto engines are based on japanese engine blueprints and thus the chinese lack innovation. There is nothing wrong with this, if we recall in the 1980s and early 1990s Hyundai and Daewoo engines were also based on japanese and european designs. The way the Chinese are growing its only a matter of time before they enter developing countries such as Pakistan. While the local-Japanese Mafia will do its best to block their entry but its wont be easy for the govt to block entry of the Chinese here.

most of the Chinese makes are based on licensed old mitsubishi & mazda technology.. the same was used in Malaysian Proton & Koren Kia as well. While there are most of the Chinese brands which are true copy of a world famous design, most of the similarity with mitsu & mazda that u see is because of the collaboration with the companies.

The Dongfeng S30 Hybrid Sedan is set to launch later this year according to various sources, with an exact date not yet being set. The Dongfeng S30 hybrid uses stop start technology that stops the engine as soon as the car comes to a halt for an extended period of time, for example when the S30 reaches a set of traffic lights or a busy junction where it needs to wait for a few minutes then the car will turn off the engine and then start again as soon as the driver presses the accelerator.

The S30 BSG measures LxWxH 4502 x 1750 x 1465mm, and has a wheelbase of 2610mm. Within a city driving environment the BSG will be able to save upto 11% more fuel than the pure gasoline version, and over mixed driving conditions it can save upto 6%.The car will launch at the Beijing Auto Show later this month.

Dongfeng Auto keeps on expanding the Fenshen brand. Currently they sell the S30 sedan, the H30 hatchback and the H30 Cross which will soon join the Fengshen lineup. In the first half of 2011, a fourth car will be added; the Fengshen Touring. It will be getting the 1.6 and a more powerful 2.0 liter engine. Price is expected to start around 70,000 yuan to 100,000 yuan (8.79 lac PKR to 12.5 lac PKR). Wagons are slowly becoming more popular in China, and hopefully the Touring will be a successful addition to the Fengshen lineup.

ve they ever been tested for this!:S

although they (corolla, Honda, Suzuki)are tested in West but cars made for US and Europe are fully loaded and safe!

Dongfeng will deploy a new self developed 1.6 liter Vvti engine for their Fengshen S30 & H30 cars by year 2012. It will be able to churn out maximum power of 86/6000 (Kw/rpm), & maximum torque of 145/4150 (N-m/rpm). Fengshen is also expected to get a minor facelift by 2012.
