So I'm in a pickle here, last night the parking lights were left on by mistake and it seems to have drained the battery.
When I try to lock/unlock the door with the key fob the red light blinks on the key fob but the car doesn't unlock.
I can't unlock the driver door with the key manually either since it doesn't go in fully. After applying a drop of oil on it goes in (after a slight resistance) but doesn't turn. The key doesn't even go fully in for the trunk. I've been using the same key since I bought this car one year ago and it's been working just fine for the ignition.
I used to start the car every few days since I'm afraid if the car sits like this for too long it'll have troubles starting up in a couple of weeks. Any remedy for this? With the lock down and all I can't grab hold of a locksmith or go to an Auto store to grab some WD-40 or Lock Lube to try either. Can't open the hood to get at the battery before getting into the car.
Update: Due to not being used, the door lock mechanism was stuck on the inside, applying some WD-40 did allow me to open the door once, but the key still doesn't turn 90% of the time. The mechanic suggested me to disassemble the door panel plastic cover on the inside and get the lock oiled as there is a sealed part of the lock that can't be lubed by applying some WD-40 from the lock hole. I shall update this post with the results for anyone who may encounter the same problem in the future.
So basically, use your door lock every once in a while to keep it working. Also apply the occasional WD-40 or some lubricant once a year or so if you don't use it that often.
For anyone that has a broken hood cable or can't get into their car like me (due to a dead battery), the hood was opened by jacking up the car and pulling on the hood opening mechanism manually, Don't try to pull on the hood wire itself manually like I did which broke a little plastic part where it attached to the hood opening mechanism. (The broken part was referred to as "makhi" by the mechanic)
