Duty on Import of 40inch LED from Uae

How much duty and other taxes we have to pay if we are importing Samsung 40inch LED from uae?
The person there is on visit visa so he will bring it..
Please guide asap.

My mom brought me a 32' LCD once. It costed us roughly $200 because of sale and customs at Lahore airport wanted $190 according to their super duper calculations.

My mom ended up paying $35 something:) try your best to bargain- you're in pakistan man!

Oh, do open up the box and make it seem like it's used and not new.

check the local market price for the same brand & model. difference will be not much to have hassle of weight carrying plus zero warranty, make a wise choice.

My khaloo brought a 40" LED without paying any duties. He didn't bring the original box. It was shown as a used item.

Used lcd pe kia duty hai? There r 2 options ,new led if all charges r reasonable or 1 year used lcd if duty on new led is high.

Easy tip.

Throw away the box or flat pack it.
Cover LED or what ever screen you have in loads of clothes so it stays safe and does not break. It will be kinda concealed as well.
If they do ask you to pay custom, just tell them it's used and for personal private use. You won't have to pay a penny for that.

My mom got me a PS3, iPhone 5, Laptop and they were all box packed and sealed. She just told them it's for my son and they let her go.

PCT classification 8528.7211~12 ~22 is for TV sets & duty is 30%, 17% sales tax, 8% misc taxes. value to be ascertained by the examining officer, so net affect will be approx: 55% of value

well sorry for being a bit irrelevant , can anybody mention current 40 inch led tv market prices and are those new brands like ORIENT,CHANGHONG RUBA,ECOSTAR worth trying or the conventional sony and samsung rule ???

In pakistan, let's be honest. No one follows the book and FBR taxes mostly. For a LED if you are getting in via baggage from anywhere of the world, official duty is 68 - 72 percent on the price ( final figure with tax, fed, gst , gdf, gd , damage charges, caa charges and so on ) . A normal LED i normally get out is with 3000 - 7000 rupees * negotiating *. if you are a govt officer, then you can easily get out with 3000 - 4000 rupees.

They demand alot but in the end you can make up excuses that it's for your home and you came back after a long time, blah blah

So dosto these days i am in Malaysia where Led tv prices are quite attractive as compare to pakistan.

I want to bring 32 led tv may be Philps brand or perhaps Sony, so koi mujhy advice karey ga k kon sa brand zaida behtar lakin mein already Philips use kar raha hon In pakistan & picture quality is superb.

Aur han mein apne sath Led kaisy le kar aoon kaisi packing ho aur kis terhan deal karna hai pakiatan customs ko q k mein koi customs duty pay nehin karna.chahta.

Please tell me thoroughly aur han yahan Malaysian air port pe tu koi masla nehin hoga?

^Tell the shop keeper who you're buying it from to change the value on the receipt. I.e say it costs 10,000-/, tell him to write 5000-/.
Make sure that the box is in a messed up condition- It will become a ' used ' item, rather than brand new.
Get it checked in with the rest of your luggage, just tell them to place a ' Fragile ' sticker on it. Or, you can fit it inside your suitcase ( 32" though ). When you approach customs, be calm. Tell them that it is used and present your receipt.

Best Solution:
Book the LCD via any Shipment Company, they will deliver the TV at your door step, i did the same and paid just
300Dhs (26 Exchange rate X 7800Rs) for 32 Inch LCD.

No need to argu with Airport peoples, they will charge what ever they want (Rishwat dayna aur layna both harram)

Okay, i will ask the shop keeper let me have under valued invoice thats not an issue.

Moreover, i am bit confused to bring box or not, if not brining the box then where led to be packed? Bcoz in bag its not possible whatsoever.

Furthermore, are you confident that its gonna be cleared bcoz incase customs duty will be applied then i think the overall landed cost will be higher or somehow will be according to our local market value,

By the way, have you personal experience OR?

You can bring it in the box. Or, just get any random box which fits. And, if you have a suitcase that is big enough to accommodate the TV- then you can just keep the TV in your suitcase and make sure to put a few clothes inside on the edges. And, Fragile sticker.
My mom brought me a 32" LCD TV once- The Custom agents wanted $195-/ as custom duties. My mom then proceeded to speak with their senior, then only $20-/ custom was charged.

Don't be scared- Nothing much will happen. I brought 2 laptops with me once, cameras, phones, PS3's and what not.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers:)

Get a Samsung or a LG. If you really really like the Sony, then get it.
Sharp and Philips is not a famous brand in Pakistan- Finding spares for it could be difficult.

I have thought of another elegant, yet crazy way.

Buy the TV.
Make an ad online i.e Craigslist. Say the value is $1000, put it on as $500.
Mention in your ad that you don't like it, it doesn't suit inside your house, basically any BS reason for not keeping it.
Make a fake email account and start a convo with yourself. Strike a ' deal ' and print out the conversation.
Now, you can show the custom agents how much you got it for. Mention cash hand 2 hand, so no receipts.
