Duty on scrap

I want to import a BMW 316i E-36 from UAE/DXB. I want to use its spares as backup spares for my current bimmer in Khi. The reason for going for is that it costs nearly around 100k PKR in DXB which is quite minimal keeping in view availibility of bimmer parts in khi, one always have to wait like atleast a weeks to fix a thing.

I want to know how much will it cost if I bring it as a scrap in Pakistan means bringing it in two pieces. Or disassembling the whole car and bring it in a container how much duty will be charged.

you'd probably be better off bringing it in in 1 piece so you are only charged once and since you don't intend on registering it you won't have to pay for papers etc.

Perhaps you shoudl check in peshawar for a donor vehicle as well before going to DXB as you'll probably find a good donor and you'll pay alot less for it since it's already here and you are not bothered to get the chasis registered (only the parts).

Charter keeping in mind the car is older than 5 years, most prolly it wont be allowed, but then again you'll be declaring it as scrap, but for that too as you said it will need to be cut in half. Last time i checked, even imports of front clips was not allowed (you can confirm this from rashid bhai). So i guess alta is your best bet here in guiding you.

Alta ain't know about it, he usually don't deal in non-asian makes and ya guys can imagine what would be alta's suggesstion to me starting with a decent bh***ch**.

I dont got anyone ther in Peshawar and dont wanna mess myself in any illegal thing.

before importing get a indepth info on it. usually people are caught and their scrap is scrapped crushed and what no at the port and then released.

Look at it this way, you are going to use it for scrap and if it does not have any papers it does not matter coz it is not going to be driven. It will be donor right!

@Racer, But my question is can I clear the car/scrap from port without duty or incase if I bought it form Chaman/Meeran Shah/Peshawar, then the first thing would be to find a car with rims, E-36, decent shape, suspension and most of the mechanical stuff still intact.

I am sorry but I doubt you can clear it without duty from the port, not possible unless you know the Customs Head.

You will have to pay duty,there is no way you get away without any duty on anything.

On normal imports of parts duty is 100% of the invoice.

Should I import a vehicle OR Buy from the smuggled lots available?

Btw, I dont think that I can source out an unregistered Bimmer for something atleast less then 300k from the smuggled market.

Remarkably we're all pretending getting illegal parts is alright. Thankfully we have moderators more than willing to connect the dots for us. A crime is a crime, and your suggestions are clearly that.

Chaterali, it's good too see you're actually willing to go through legal avenues. You're a dying breed. Hopefully you'll find something legally, it'll require work though - look into importing parts from countries that have fta with Pakistan. I know for a fact Sri Lanka and Australia had concessions on parts with Pakistan. Sri Lanka uptill last this very year provided entire lots of spare parts for older mercedeses.

What is the total value of all parts you are looking for? and if you import those parts as stand alone units, how much will you have to pay and what kind of savings you will have if you import whle vehicle?

I can think of something which might set you up Rs 250,000, on top of this amount shipping charges + agent fee + port wharfage.

Second hand rims of Original Bimmer costs nearly 25k atleast in khi. Suspension stuff costs 40k. Used Yes used oxygen sensor costed 9500 rs. A/C Cooling coil costed rs. 25000 used. Power steering hose pipe used is for 3500. ICV (Idle control Valve) is for 6500 rs. Parts are quite expensive. But parts are not the thing which really bothers, its the availibility as ya need to wait atleast a week to get things fixed. And after joining Pakwheels I am getting a little bit psychic as now I try to take care of the car otherwise if ther ain't any pakwheels my bimmer would be having suzuki or corolla parts fitted with some jugars here and there.

I can get it out of port without any duty but dont want to take favour from anyone coz once ya took the favour then ya need to do the same in future for other aswell.

I will be Quetta on new year eve. So will try to meet Jaann99.
