A relative of mine received an e-challan for over-speeding on Lahore Canal, he received a letter at home about the infraction. But when he checked the ePay app, there were 7 more challans pending for months. There is no proof of violation in the app, just general description.
I then searched for my own vehicle's e-challan in the app. I found a two month old challan of 300 rs with broad reason "Line, lane or zebra crossing" - no proof in app, not even location. I never received any notice at home. I receive mail regularly here is DHA, so there is no mail delivery issue.
I have paid the fine for alleged violation as I don't want to waste my time pursuing this issue for 300 rs. But this is very bad practice by the government. They can easily email the proof, since they already send pin code to email when logging in, and also email you the receipt when you make payment. It is entirely possible, they are creating bogus challans to prop up their revenue.
I recommend everyone to check your vehicle number in ePay Punjab app. When you open the app, go to "Punjab Police" > "E-Challan (Safe City)" and enter your vehicle number and CNIC to get challans.
