E200 Kompressor

I have been driving the E200 Kompressor (W211) 2006 facelift model for a while now. Yesterday, i thought of having a friendly drag with a 9th gen civic manual which was completey stock. To my surprise, the civic smoked me in every posible way. Considering the E200 with a supercharged engine with 184hp power i simply couldnt understand why it lost to the civic which is around 140 hp.
My 0-100 is 10.3 seconds which seems to be sluggish imo. The car is fully maintained and serviced without any errors. Anyone else here driving an E 200 can guide me better i think.

vehicles tend to lose their bhp and hp as they grow old... if u r good with ample money get it dynoed to see exactly what r u driving...

A one lakh km driven with utmost care wnt be loosing this much power i think. There has to be something else. Anbody else owning the same e200 komp maybe able to help me with it

I'm not that surprised...you have to keep in mind the power to weight ratio...civic might be quick off the line but eventually you would have left him behind..

Yeah, thats understandable. Civic being 1300kg and merc being 2100kg ; the difference is definately there but is it good enough to cover the 40hp gap ? Doesnt look like it

The W211 E200 weighs more than 2 tonnes and has only around 40 more bhp than the Civic, it was no match for it. I own a manual 9th Gen Civic and it is very quick off the line as compared to my W204. The ESP program in these cars limits a lot of power going to the rear wheels during lift off and that coupled with its 2 ton weight is not a recipe for racing. You would've smoked him after the 100KM/h mark.

The delayed acceleration in your E200 can be caused due to a number of reasons. It could be bad engine oil, bad transmission fluid, wrong tires, or a failing catalytic converter. Do have it checked because a well maintained car should not lose a lot of power at just 100,000KMs, these cars are built to last for a long, long time.

Here's some statistics for you...

E200 Kompressor = 8.6 KG per HP / 0-100KM/h in 9.1s
9th Gen Civic M/T = 8.4 KG per HP / 0-100KM/h in 8.7s

There's the issue of weight too. Civic should be much lighter then the merc. Also manual tranny tends to be faster in a short race. What was the length of your race ? I am sure in a long enough race, the merc will nudge ahead of civic because of the power difference.

It's the weight issue plus you can smoke a civic just have to go in sports mode gear, use ur trip tonic gears it's all about driving it also but weight does matters...

Thank you for the detailed reply. Yes, i get it now . It is the heavy weight which makes the w211 sluggish and slow to respond from the start. I had turned the ESP off to avoid the power cut.
Although my car is maintained but i'd still get everything checked to rectify the 1.5 s delay which i am getting in my car.

I'll tell you right now why you lost. Traction control. Switch it off completely and learn to manipulate the power onto the road using just your right foot.
Driving a rwd car is totally different on our roads due to the poor quality of Tarmac.

What is your 0-100? I dont think you can beat the civic turbo cz 7s is really good for that car. Anyways, traction control was off as per the button and the indication. I dmt know if theres is some other way to switch it off as well.

Your acceleration might be delayed because of wrong fuel too. The acceleration figures that are quoted for these cars on the internet are based on 91 octane fuel and above (premium fuel). Try using Shell V-Power and keep your tires inflated correctly. I used to face a similar issue with my w204 until I started using V-Power. The difference between PSO petrol and V-power is night and day.

My 2007 clk200k lost to a Prius once was shocked as we had smoked a mark X and c200 and were shocked how did that happen!! As we were speeding and he caught up....
The Prius driver was a friend .... So after another turn smoked him, found was way I was driving ... Traction off, manual shift and sports mode..... Plus civic can't catch at turns and bends......!!

My grande smokes civic oriels and catches turbo.... Which would upset a lot of Civic owners.... But then u haven't seen my grande yet.....
