some one might have poured some liquid on the center console. spray some interior cleaner in it if that is the case it will soften.
i was in a similar situation. the button was stuck. but i noticed traces of dried up juice in center console area. just poured few drops of water over the switch. and it softened initially but after some time got stuck again as it again dried out. so i fed it with interior cleaner and little water. the water dripped down to the mat. and econ button got soft.
a thin cleaning liquid is recommended, better a non conducting one.
