12-Apr-12 Experience:
Cylinder filled from Swabi Interchange. Then travelled to Islamabad, local commutation & then on way back to Peshawar near Mardan Cylinder depleted (covering 219km on full AC).

Refilled cylinder with 9.45kgs.
i.e., Average= 219/9.45 = 23.174km/kg
or else (86.75*9.45)/ 219= Rs. 3.743/km

My 2004 XLI gives me 17km/kg in karachi city drive with a/c on

Local So far calculated (Checked with AC only) is as follow,

Per Cylinder (60ltr) = 140 to 155km
Avg. per Kg= 16-17km
Avg. cost per km= Rs. 5.1 to 5.4 (1kg CNG= Rs. 86.75)

Rest it depends on driving style, traffic condition of particular city (In mine case it is of Peshawar) & offcource frequencey halts.

Believe me if u wish to run XLI or GLI on CNG dont go for after market kit. Pay these extra bucks (~125,000) which will pay back u in long term

GLI ECOTEC OR M/T ALTIS ?

Well, no doubt M/T Altis has lot of additional features. But now you have to set the bound considering fuel economy, higher taxes etc.

SteelMate Installed (the included reverse parking sensors in the package not installed) - wanted one with the buttons in the key, simple and easy to carry.

Is this a NEW KEY or the OEM key is fitted in some way with the steel mate buttons on the key?

furthermore, what r the plus points of STEEL MATE vs others.. whats the price.

y did u opt the cng version as now adays cng is avalaible for only 2-3 days max and the rest r gone in load shedding + cng rates are nearly equal to that of petrol...

petrol gives u the ultimate engine performance + prolonged engine life compared to that of cng..in my opinion cng should b banned...if u can afford a 15 lacs car then u should hav no problem affording its fuel too...no offence but i just gave u my opinion on cng and its draw backs..people buy lcs and camrys and convert them to cng..iam like wtf..y buy a 20-30 million car if u cant afford its fuel..just buy a mehran instead..sorry if i hurt u but mainay gussay mai akar dil ki poori bharass nikaldi..!!

As per my own experience, if u drive 60KM/DAY, then at prevailing rate of Rs80/kg of cng in karachi, you can save about Rs4000/month, which comes to about Rs50,000/year

Dont know about the seperate costs, But the whole deal was for Rs.4500, then i wanted a matching steering cover so it costed rs.200 extra.

The basic cost was for the seat covers, they were better quality, the same thing can be done from 2500 to 3000 as well, The quality of the rexene varies.

The Baleno ones were made for rs2200 or rs2500 (dunt remember) in year, 2005.

From where in karachi, can i get these SKIN TIGHT seat covers and which fabric should i ask them for this type

Am going to book INSHALLAH before ramadhan either GLI OR GLI ECOTECH.. Still confused which to buy..

Can people have experience suggest me...

The things i have in mind are the driving pleasure, but i also want to keep in mind the FUEL COST.. I know prices have CNG are now Rs80, but still petrol is about 23Rs expensive than CNG... Furthermore its my own experience, as i have been driving an XLI that fuel consumption on CNG is better by about 3km/kg as compared to petrol and all this results in lesser fuel economy

BUT price of GLI ECOTECH is about Rs125,000/- more ... is it worth spending. I drive about 60km/day.. This means that with CNG i can save about Rs4000/month so i will cover the cost extra cost of ECOTECH in about 2.5yrs. I usually buy a new car and then sell it after 5-7years

All comments and feedback would be more than welcome

what is reverse parking sensors ?

2 blank remote keys come with the steel mate system. The price was 4000Rs. when i got it installed almost a year ago. Apparently steelmate is better than the rest in terms of quality, even though it is manufactured in china.

For the reverse parking sensors to be attached holes had to be drilled in the rear bumper, so i did not get them installed. parking sensors don't really work especially in a crowded city like karachi when cars are already bumper to bumper.

nopes i dont own an Ecotec, but i surely was interested in it once. then i contacted the toyota guys (some insiders in the factory) and they told me not to go for it. anyways, it has beeen discontinued otherwise (call any toyota showroom and confirm). and new owners can still benefit from CNG using aftermarket kits

Toyota insiders suggesting "dont go for ecotec"... this means we shouldnt be buying it. Then how can u suggest to put aftermarket kits, when ff kits are not advisalbe by toyota insiders

I think ecotec is the best thing thats ever happened to Corolla+CNG. They are using the SIS type advanced CNG kits and a dedicated ECU for CNG. Buy this kit from the market and without cylinder its gonna cost u 80k+.

The amount 125k Rs is totally worth it, however, the reason why toyota insiders suggest u not to buy ecotec is from an unconfirmed source that ecotec corolla is not VVTi. Its the simple 2nzfe cz vvti+cng+60k kms on the odo= epic failure...

Cng screws the valve train in most cases...

So, if you want fuel economy, go for ecotec... drive it the way u want... floor it... you'll always be saving bucks on every drive...

And on a friendly comparison b/w xli genuine petrol an an ecotec gli on cng, the ecotec was actually a second faster...

I am really doubtful that it can be true... If u want an ecotec, just take the invoice and frieght charges to a dealership...

I am pretty sure u'll get a car without any hassle...

that apart, still u need a good deal of discussions before u choose to go for anything...

to me, most of such discussions with people who actually have never experienced a car, like "no no, don't go for it, go for that cz of that" etc are pretty useless...

just get a car and experience it for ur own self...

I am sorry, I can't answer this question fully but yes, I have kept and driven an ecotec xli...

Nopes, I haven't given any review on it. Just my opinion that buying an ecotec is totally worth it. One can agree/disagree, whatever he wants...

here on PW, there are many fully SATISFIED ecotec owners. like @mkkd.

And I am quite sure u can still get an ecotec. have seen like three unregistered ecotecs in my city.
