about the converting part, i think you need to research it further, i am available if you have any queries. all cars convert on either of the two conditions as i mentioned. you can even adjust the convert rpm so that it converts when it reaches the specific rpm(i had my vitz convert rpm readjusted to 1000rpm instead of 1800rpm), i guess your cars have it set too low, which is why it converts earlier.
and im not quite sure how the fuel average will increase as it is driven further. please shed some light. According to what my brain says a new car is the most efficient, its efficiency decreases due to wear n tear as it is driven further on.
