ECT and ECU

Engine control unit is called ecu and there is a sensor connected to engine and ecu, which indicates engine temperature to ecu. This sensor unit is called ect. the ecu adjusts engine emissions and idling by sensors. When car goes for emissions testing for road use sticker the emissions test calculates whether engine is good not. Emissions is end result of engine operation inside car including ecu and sensors and engine itself. This has been my observation, please add useful information to thread and read before asking questions which already have been answered.

The ecu works by adjusting volts . The emissions indicate min level, max and lambda (high, low, mean). These all are different figures. The O2 sensor is sending emissions information to ecu while ecu engine adjusts engine according to temp.

By ur brief theory it can be said that emissions are highly dependent on engine temperature. During cold the emissions can be alarming but at optimal temperature or when engine heats up the emissions come to at specified standard. A few days back i was watching tv in which a car expert was checking the emissions where he specifically said that emissions are calculated when ur engine reaches optimal operating temperature.
But how about carburated cars? Where you have jets only and no O2 sensor and any electronic components.

To my knowledge carburetor cars in past exported to some countries were equipped with sensors. if you look closely at 4k engine of 82 corolla in USa or Europe.

Lets say they had these sensors but what can you do to tweak the emissions in carburated engines?

Sir, The thread is about ECT and ECU confusion. , we are not discussing tuning carburetors on thread:). You may want to search forum its been discussed before. . Back to thread, If for example, ecu has 4efe ect stamped on it. it means its a ecu. not a ect. Now all members who didn't know ,,, know it.

the old 2E-LU (low emmissions) engine had an emmissions control unit, it was found under the dashboard and was controlling a multitude of vacuum solenoids that were spidered throughout the vacuum line forest in the engine. The 2A-LU was a true nightmare if one did not have the chart sized vacuum diagram.

my ecu box n 4a-fe ect stamped on it bt im using a manual gearbox . is that ecu for eclectronic trans ?
