Efi engine

pls give me some info regarding efi engines. what EFI stands for and does it mean automatic cars or some thing else. Why these are better then others. which cars are availables in pakistan with efi engines.

EFi stands for Electronic fuel Injection when comes in automotive.

ANBD it doesn't mean AUTOMATIC CARS. It can be said as AUTOMATIC ENGINE.

Actually it is the new concept in engines which is electronic and thus able to gives excellent fuel economy with improved emission control.

One can say it a COMPUTIRIZED ENGINE.

In PAKISTAN all SUZUKI SMALL cars hav CARBY engine which can be considered as preety old.

CHEVY JOY & HYUNDAI SANTRO r the options in brand new EFi cars when considering 1000 CC cars.

And all brand new SEDANS in PAKISTAN can be categorized under EFi.

EXPERTS here at PW can describe it in a much better way.

First of all, lets make it clear that EFI is not latest technology, In US, carby engines were finished in 1989!!! and we are still using them in new cars!

THe only disadvantage I can see is that when you convert your EFI car to CNG, you are actually making the computer useless as you bypass the EFI system. No disadvantages though, its like shooting arrows from M16 rifle!!

U r pretty rite about first point.

But i would like to add here that actually all the new engines can be categorized under EFi. We can't say exactly the EFi but we can categorized them under EFi.

And i don't agree with u w.r.t CNG in EFi.

I mean all the CNG dealers prefer EFi engine. And EFi works alot better and performs real WELL than CARBY engine when at CNG.

And i my self observe the excellent milage of EFi at CNG.

ya i hav also heard tht cng works better on efi as compared to carby engines....one thing i like in efi cars is the sound of limiter/cutter which comes on high rpm.... performance air intake better on efi engine....lolz...

I also finds that EFi works preety impressive when at high RPMs comparing to CRABY engines. And amazingly on CNG aswell.

i have budget of Rs.400,000 and want to purchase car having EFI engine. Pls suggest me which car is better both on petrol and cng.

What I meant is that the emulator in CNG car gives a false signal to the injectors so the ECU can not shut them down. The ECU of the EFI system is useless when car is running on CNG. THe good performance you see is because of the Advancers which electronically advances the ignition timing whereas in carby cars the timing is adjusted manually and is fixed. Otherwise, you cannot say that CNG performs better on EFI cars. The correct statement would be that high compression engines perform well on CNG because of higher flash point on gas irrespective of EFI

U can't get the brand new EFi car in this budget.

U can get used HYUNDAI SANTRO 1000 CC and CHEVY EXCLUSIVE 800 CC. Both r powered with an EFi.

There is also an another decent option u can get in this budget i.e. TOYOTA VITZ 1999-2000 model. It is imported. And mostly it is available in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. And overall very good car (Y)

thank you for the reply. As i heard vitz has problem in availabilty of spare parts and santro's resale is not good . But again thanks for reply.
I need family car for long drives (from city to rural areas) having maximum trunk capcity. like nissan sunny, toyota corrola (if i increase my budget up to Rs.500,000). i want to keep car for next 6 to 7 years. Is my option is good? pls comment.

hmm. Now if u increase ur BUDGET to 5 Lack then u can get used HONDA CITY & Suzuki BALENO like around 2001-2 model. Both cars r powered by EFi.

I personally prefer HONDA CITY. U can also get COROLLA 1.3 & CiViC 1.5 & 1.6 1996-9 model. But these r bit old.

And if u r cosidering a small car with maximum trunk space then SANTRO GV is the best option available.

brother muje aik advice chaye meri (sentro 1000 cc, 2006 modle) gari ist and second gear me bohat missisng karti hai, or 3 or 4th gear me nahi karti,, plug and plug wire bilkul theek hai, ic ka kia issue ho sakta hai
