You're facing carby problems because (a) the carb has been murdered by mechanics through rebuilding/servicing it incorrectly and (b) most of your vacuum hoses do not function. Fixing these would result in trouble free motoring. I have owned a carbed EG before, the original motor
served well all throughout it's 3,23,000km life.
Although fuel injection would be much more reliable and rewarding for you at this time, this would need a lot of parts and someone who knows what he's is doing, to make it work flawless. Parts you will need are:
ECU: Probably P08 or P72 or a similar unit for D15B. Non vtec ecu will also work.
Complete wiring with sensors (map, tps, O2, etc)
IACV
New accelerator cable
Fuel injectors
Fuel rail
Fuel tank w/fuel pump from an EK.
Intake mani from an EK EXi.
I'm sure I'm missing some other odd bits here. Only parts would cost you close to 100K in today's money. Also, most of these would be kabli so it's also a hit and miss.
