i havnt seen this here... looks like normal wire with fibre optic coating...
EL wires are neon based and come with a choke that runs them.
@the op. I doubt that you'll find it here in Pakistan. A friend got one from the US. Pretty cool stuff.

do these ever run out of light?
i remember playing around with these in UK, just had to snap them in the middle and these chemicals reacted making them light up

What you are talking about is a cyalume glow stick which doesnt need an external power source as the chemicals inside it combine when you snap it and start emitting light. EL wire requires an external source of power and is essentially completely different from a cyalume stick.
