ELECTRIC
CARS IN PAKISTAN
In order to encourage usage of Electric Cars, the British
Government has given a deadline that after 2040 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/25/new-diesel-petrol-cars-banned-uk-roads-2040-government-unveils/
, Government shall not allow import of Petrol and Diesel in the Country for
Vehicles running on the Roads. The Government of UK has also completely
abolished Customs Duty and Taxes on Electric Cars to encourage people to buy
and use them.
Since Electric Car has NO ENGINE and it simply runs on a high speed low noise DC motor
run on Battery. It imperative that Government of Pakistan should also follow
the suit. Due to is not using conventional Petrol and Diesel or CNG,
emission is ZERO and it is 100% Environment friendly.
My Daughter in Bermuda Islands is using a brand new BMW
Electric car https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/bmwi/i3.html
. They charge it every 5th day. They have put its
charger in their home and put the Car for charging during Night time and by the
time they want to use it in the morning, the car is fully charged for
usage. Very convenient indeed.
I think it is time for Pakistanis to switch over to Electric
Cars. It will solve three
immediate problems:
Save Pakistan Foreign Exchange money on buying Fuel
from Abroad.Due to Zero emission, environment problem will also
ease.Because of NO Engine, Repair and Maintenance problem is
also taken care of.
The sooner the better we opt for Electric Cars for Pakistan.
We have more cheaper Car version made in Japan and China which can be imported
brand new immediately when Government announce its Duty / Tax holiday on these
Cars.
Government has to think out of box for a long term solution
and modernization.
