Obviously Tesla is not gonna start assembling in Pakistan. But setting up dealerships like those of Merc/audi/bmw/porsche is not outside the realm of possibility as some are suggesting. In fact I think its highly likely if Tesla improves its reliability etc and introduces some cheaper models etc.
There are definitely some issues with EVs right now but none that cant be sorted out and theyre improving at a really fast rate. Virtually every automaker is pouring billions into EVs; they cant all be betting on the wrong horse.
Also apart from the Tesla early adopters we might see some EV imports from the german brands here. Rumors are Audi Pakistan might be launching the E-Tron and Porsche has been advertising the upcoming Taycan. EVs make a lot of sense in the luxury segment here in Pakistan because of the favorable tax structure (only 25% on CBU EV imports vs upto 300% on bigger engine cars)
For the mass market the japanese (and even chinese) are improving every day and if the tax incentives remain we’ll see them gain popularity.
