Electric Vehicles in Pakistan

This is the first time I am posting here, so pardon any mistake in advance. I would like to invite a discussion on EVs. Most of all, about an infrastructure for re-fueling (recharging basically,) and maintenance. What are your ideas on it? A few days earlier, a Tesla Model S passed by. I knew it from internet, but seeing that in front of me made me fall in love with it. Do EVs impress you as well? Coz I didn't think they could be this desirable. I am actually convinced that Tesla is doing it the right way. The design, the specs, the performance etc. They even have 5/5 rating in every category of cars inspection regulated by US Government. I don't know how long Pakistani Government will take to pave the way for it?

What makes Teslas cool wouldn't work in Pakistan. In developed countries there are strict rules on driving and you can't drive like a maniac. For example the lane assist and autopilot of tesla would be useless and even extremely dangerous in Pakistan because 99% of the people don't know what a lane is and you have to drive like a dodgem car. Tesla autopilot sticks to one lane and would crash immediately when some car starts coming on to your lane without any signalling and you have to dodge him or honk horns. Just a small example of the maniac like driving happening in Pakistan.

As far as charging stations are concerned, they are nothing more than 220V outlets which Pakistan runs on already. In America, homes have 110V outlets so they need those stations for that and more amperage. The biggest issue in Pakistan is electricity shortage and that makes them unfeasible on a large scale.

Maybe other EVs will start appearing in Pakistan but not Tesla. Tesla has a very niche market in America which is the rich and that doesn't exist in Pakistan except maybe 1-2% of the Pakistan. Teslas are also cool for their autopilot which can never work for a country without any traffic rules, it's a struggle for humans driving in this country, what would a computer do lol.

Then there's the repairs.

Very cool though but not practical in Pakistan.

Tesla isn't even officially present in India. Pak main to anay k koi chances ni. May be after 2025 and only if Govt has some special incentive for EVs by then like very less import tax

pata nahi yeh electricity short fall ka argument laha sy ajata hai theek hai electricity shortfall hai likin jo log yeh gariyan afford kar skty hain wo kisi slum mai nahi rehty achy areas mai rehty hain ja electricity problem itna nahi hota 2 hours maximum and large scale per tesla superchargers sary solar powered hain so it is feasible in Pakistan

Tesla repairs are cheap? Bhai, do you understand something called brands ? Consider this

Suzuki parts cost $ - cheap
Toyota/Honda parts cost $$ - expensive
Audi/BMW parts cost $$$
Aston Martin/Ferrarri $$$$

Tesla repairs wouldn't be cheap because Tesla is NOT Suzuki.

Keep on dreaming though, I am sure Elon Musk has Pakistan on his to-do list for the most profitable investment for his company. He is in deep waters already with the SEC.

Tesla cars work anywhere there are lanes. You really need to see how American roads and how people there follow them, what things cause them traffic violations then make statements like that. Pakistanis even on motorways don't follow the rules and you will see some chuteya hogging the fast lane.

Tesla don't need suspension until more then 200k km and at that point you also need to change the battery and no one buys that old EV

tesla only need brake pads,wiper blades and ac filter replacement after 40k km that costs around $500 a similar priced audi costs more to maintain 15k for 5k km 5×8=40k km 15×8=120k for same 40km

tesla i dont think will come in Pakistan, however other cheaper variants of EVs such as Nissan leaf , Hyundai or some new car manufactures keeping in view local buying power,will come here, presently the biggest hurdle is less range of drive due to battery design limitations , lack of charging infrastructure in our country.In future it is expected that battery chemistry would improve world wide, which will result in extended drive range.

Looking at the condition of our economy, we may soon be transitioning to DVs (Donkey Vehicles).

Yeah sure tesla wouldn't come here officially until they launch the model 4 or t whatever they would call a more cheaper car similarly priced to a honda civic or altis 1.8. In 2 years the new automakers will be releasing locally assembled cars and many automakers have announced that they will produce EV and there are 5 electric charges installed in 4 major cities of Pakistan by BMW so in 2-3 years time we will see electric charges on motorways.

Pakistan is under the grip of Suzuki - a company which has stopped existing in respected countries and people drool over cars like cultus or wagon r or alto. All sub standard cars.

Remember the United bravo launch? People are dying to get that car! It's the dream car of Pakistan

Not a single german car company has made it in Pakistan. Not Audi not Mercedes benz NOT even BMW!. BMW is popular everywhere even Nawaz Sharif used to be seen in it yet it couldn't make it in Pakistan.

Let's talk about American cars since that's what you think will come to Pakistan lol. Ford has no existence in Pakistan neither does general motors, i mean look at FAW, faw couldn't make it either.

I mean it's nice to dream and all but it's not going to happen in 2 or 3 or 5 or 10 years unless Pakistan suddenly becomes a country that the world considers a growing economy rather than a beggar and hub of corruption like African countries.

There's also government regulations. Too many obstacles to count. Beyond the scope of this post.

Yes if toyota or honda or suzuki? Lol ever decide to introduce an electric vehicle then we could see them in Pakistan. Maybe some Chinese variant i don't know, ching chong

We might see random Tesla(s) in Pakistan if some crazy guy manages to import it from America somehow.

Pakistan could see imported 2nd hand EVs from Japan in coming 5 to 6 years, given change in regulations.

I didn't talk about American or Japanese EVs. KIA Hyundai and Chinese companies will assemble EVs in Pakistan

Teslas have been imported from UK currently there are 2 teslas in Pakistan. Later when the new makers will start assembling EVs in Pakistan infrastructure will be made but in limited and tesla will become a gray market car just like every other JDM. If they introduce the 25k model in 3 years we could potentially see around 50 of those in Pakistan
