Electronic tuning in karachi

hello all ,
i brought a used civic exi 05 , it had cng installed.
i had later removed the cng . now the car seems to have unconsistant pick on petrol. on some RPM the pick is too much and on some RPM it lags and pulls. its very jerky. mayb it was tuned for cng and now after removing it , the tuning has messed up.

does anyone know who can electronically tune this car?

also , i never believed tht there is somthing like electornic tuning but lately my friends car (civic 04) was knocking alot and had zero pick. the knock was so bad tht the car would itself change to cng or vise versa. all the mechanics said the fuel pump and the coils were screwed.
then he went to pit shop (which is very far for me) and they charged him 4000 for electronic tuning without any part replacment and his car is perfect!!

the honda ppl gave him an estimate of 40,000. which included replacement of fuel pump , coils etc. and they diagnosed the problem in 2 days!.

then later "pit shop" took 1 day and only for 4,000 they did some electronic tuning and the car was perfect.

^ where do u reside? i guess there a Honda in every locality, btw ive had bad experience with Pit Stops. Nazimabad one, nd Deinfa i dont like it.

and if its simple tuning, Throtle service, Rpm adjustment Plugs replacemant, its not going to cost you more then 2k Parts seperate.

You can refet Khan motors in phase 2 area, charges around 600 for tuning.

and is a complete workshop wid diagnostics for almost every car in karachi. But can be a ripoff if u dont noe ur car. or is in a mood of ripping u off. Honda is the safest bet.

But the issue ure reffering to seems like the fluctuating Rpm in this case the TPS sensor the one in the throtle body (im not sure about the sensor name) needs service or replacement. mostly its okay with service. that includes throtle body service.

Go to the nearest Honda. have a check/estimate. if it suits you well and gud. werna its ur wish.

The benefit of having a Honda is that theve got less cars on roads that means service centres are always avalible to help you. Unlike Toyota and Suzuki who are busy clearing up manufacturing issue. rather then the real ones.

jst to attain the best setting possible. as the computer gives u the best idle RPM/ or the manufactures recomended readings and the guy working on ur car without using his head too much only has to match the readings of the car with thoose of the computer.

manualy he would have to readjust several times to get the best and ideal setting.

cheers @ chinyoti that leads me to ask u another question almost every other mechanic told us to do the settings in petrol first and than do the final touch in cng so same goes for electronic tunning u have to switch your car to petrol and than let the guy do the tunning and than in the end when hes done with the tunning on petrol convert it on cng and ask him to do the final check ?

further eleborating the subject i would like to state that mostly people reckon all the computerised car likes civic , vitz and all those brands need computerised tunning but suzuki manual once i doubt the need of electronic tunning there but please make me understand that why we will do better with electronic tunning in a carby car ?

^ dats because ur cars engine is made to run on petrol once its stable on petrol, i.e runing smoth no missing no hicuping. Then its in position to run on Cng and its clear that if theres any issue after that its only related to CNG settings

for ur second question again its just becuase of the ideal RPM setting.

as word say Tuning its not sch a big deal. the following things need to be checked and ur cars tuned.

Airfilter in a-okay condition
Spark plugs in a-okay condtion
Plug wires in a-okay condtion
and a clean carburator on throtle body. so there arent any carbon deposits blocking the air inlet and outlet to the engine.

and finaly the Rpm to the required level some cars have an idle at 700rpm, some have 500rpms and so on.
on CNg cars its advanced a little so u dont face rpm droping.

I would like to say one thing over hear , "penny wise pound foolish" , if Honda is expensive then it is for a reason , go to Honda and get it fixed , or you can go to pit stop as your suggesting which i honestly don't know. what is Pit stop, all i can think of is it could be a road side mechanic , i could be wrong also.

You can get your problem fixed for the time being , but whats the guarantee that you will not face the same problem again, and if you see it in the long run you are actually paying more than what Honda was offering you the fix with guarantee .

in the end its your car , its your money , its your decision. i can only give you the advise .

to the further notification on this thread , an electronic tunning is required on cars that have an ECU and fuel injection system , it does not apply on car that have carburetors

i honestly don't know. what is Pit stop, all i can think of is it could be a road side mechanic , i could be wrong also.

Pitstops are certified Honda 2S dealers, i.e Service and Spare parts.

normal showroms are 3S i.e Sales, service and spare parts.

leave it to the guy tuning ur car. he would handle it.

brother i have bad experience with honda. my 3 friends had the concept tht honda is the best since they made the cars.

1) one of my friend had the suspension done overall .shaji suspension wanted 40,000 but he paid around 1 lakh to honda and put all new but now after 9 months , his car is full of noises.

2) one of my friend went for regular diagnose and spend alot of money because the steering was giving a weird noise. later a local mechanic replaced the silver steering bushings with a plastic one and the noise was eliminated.

3) recently my friends car was knocking on petrol , it wouldnt run and make weird noise. Honda diagnosed it as fuel pump and coils replacments. and 40,000 bill. tht work was later fixed only for 4000 by pit shop

looking at all these cases i feel very uncomfortable to go to honda. and since i know all i need is the ecu tuning and nothing else. and honda will give me a whole big list of things which i need to change which wont even be neccessery!

some things i diagnosed

1) car doesnt give starting problems ------ fuel pump is fine
2) car doesnt knock nor missing ---------- coil is fine
3) car doesnt have rough ideal ---------- engine mount , catalac converter is fine

the only thing my car is doing is

from 1000-3000 pick is very slow. sometime on 3rd - 4th gears my car seems to almost struggle to pick up at low rpm
3000+rpm too much pick. its like some turbo or somthing
i know the vti does give some jurk at 2500-3000 rpm but does the exi also have this?

@ chinyoti thank you for correcting me , because i honestly did not know who were the Pitstop people .

@ enerlevel, you are right to some extent , about Honda service , they do try to ask more and cut their corners in doing their job properly , but it really helps a lot if you know people in Honda and if you are their regular costumer and also if your car is maintained by Honda and has a service record .

@enerlevel, i think the basics can be done by u only, reset the ecu, get the spark plugs changed. and gapping to what is specified for a petrol car.

Check for the initial missing, (there could be missing at initial rpms and not at high revs,) happend with me Baleno calm shaft sensors was bad (actualy some wiring issue), (em not sure if civic has a calm shaft sensor or a distributor).

If this doesnt helps for normal tuneup Honda guys wont rip u off more then a 2k. and its the safest bet. wo alag bat hai wo koi aur kaam nikal dein gari mein.
