there is an ignored hug, which is several times more embarrassing. The eid hug. Where most people hug you 3 times. Well there's some people who say/believe it's wrong to hug three times, and they stick to one time. But you're used to the 3 hug rule. And once you meet someone who is a 1 time hugger. After the first hug, you go for the second one and he doesn't, it looks so awkward. Much more embarrassing then missed handshake.
I've had one super embarrassing handshake many years ago in college days. Outside college after classes I was talking to one of the lecturer regarding up coming topics. And I was looking down while talking and time came to say khuda hafiz. So I did and so did he. Then I raised my hand up for a bye-bye handshake while still looking down. My hand was there playing with air for a good 5-7 seconds before I realized the other guy wasn't even there. Right after saying khuda hafiz, he had turned away and started walking while my humble handshake was not only completely ignored (apparently he never even saw it), he had actually turned away. At this point he was about 5 ft away so I said loudly "khuda hafiz sir !! " so maybe he would come back for the handshake. He also replied "khuda hafiz beta !" and just kept walking. That was the most horrible experience I've ever had. Everyone who saw was laughing. And I don't know how or why I did such an embarrassing thing...
