*Emergency Please Help*Suzuki Alto Clutch Problem :(

Asalam Alaikam,
Dear Pakwheels fellows I hope you all are fine by the grace of Allah.

Yesterday I washed the engine bay of my car and parked it in the garage.
Now,today when I started the car and tried to engage the gear, the gear was not moving.Simply,the gear wasn't working.

I switched off the car and then engaged the gear,the gear was working properly.While the car was off,I put it in 1st gear and when I tried to start it, it gave a jerk.

To cut the long story short,the gear is working when the car is off but it isnt working when the car is on.

I was told by my friend that there is some problem with the clutch plate.I checked the clutch wire, it isnt broken.

Please help me guys.Tomorrow I have to go to mechanic, so I want to prepare myself what is the problem.I don't want the mechanics to do something wrong with my car.

mention car model and milage. was it working fine previously?

Car is Suzuki Alto 2009 model.Mileage is 45000 km.
Yes the car was working perfectly when I parked it in the garage.

check when you press the clutch in the engine where the clutch cable is plugged is moving, if not then wire is broken, if is moving the the problem is in side the gear box, not with the clutch plate but with the fixer of clutch plate.

i also have had this problem, but my problem was makainak missed screw's of gear box with engine. when i press the clutch gear box move away from engine so clutch was not working and gear was not moving, but when switched off gear was fine.

Sir, I checked the clutch wire.
It is working perfectly.
So, you are saying that there is a problem inside the gearbox.
Do the gearbox need to be opened for this ?

Just a wild shot, but since its free, why don't you try disconnecting the battery terminals for a couple of minutes and then connect the battery once again and then try starting the car and engaging the gears.

alto got no ecu
presuming u r tying to reset the ecu with this

Brother did it, but nothing happened.The problem still persists

Yes paniclayer and dms664 are right.
Alto isn't EFI.It has no ECU.
So, nothing has to be done with the battery

Simply put, no. I haven't personally come across it.

Did the clutch get heavier with time? Or did it just happen out of the blue?

I am pretty sure it is the pressure plate/friction disc. In either case, its time to replace the clutch I believe.

Yes the clutch do get heavier with time.
You can say after taking the car out of garage and driving it for not more than 5 kms, the clutch starts getting heavier and do give some type of noise.The noise is not very loud and it comes once in a blue moon.
So, you don't think it is the problem with the gear box?
Because, when the car is off the gears are working normally.

A clutch pressure plate set for alto will cost less than 3000 rupees I believe. Get it changed. You can screw up a car's clutch by driving it for a couple of days with the clutch half pressed, so don't be amazed if it gave up within the first 50k kilometers on the odo.

Its even not good to be too much concious.I drive my car with utmost care.
Thank you dear,I will get it replaced tomorrow.
I just wanted to make up my mind, so that mechanic wont rip me off.

Brother a new road is being layed in the locality where I live.The whole area is messed up with stones,mud,garbage or anything that comes in the way.So, just to take care about my beloved car and suspension, I used to do this practice.But now I will avoid it.
