End to Begining Project Mercedes Benz 1971

Hi,

I got a 1971 Mercedes Benz 1971 and am attempting to re-build this car. Will be posting pictures on progress so far.

I started on this project on 14th Aug, 2010. Took me around 50 days to complete dent work at complete unintrupted work environment.

Currently work paint work is in progress. Will be adding pictures and seek advise.

Is it petrol or Diesel? ? R u overhauling the old engine or using some other engine ?

It is a Petrol engin and engine in in good condition, don't require overhauling.

Will be posting pictures as we progress.

Dear not yet at the stage to put some number on table. However, the project is costing a lot, got complete suspension imported and it has costed me around 180K.

i used to get these coments all the time about my 1303 but i found that such cars which are not going to be driven daily can be LHD or RHD,.. all you have to do is adjust your driving style a little and all will be fine. plus i prefer LHD on a manual car.

Great work here. I have two observations:

1. The speedometer in your pictures points out that this was originally a diesel engine car. Either the speedometer was changed or this was originally a diesel. The W115 does not have a glowplug indicator on the dashboard so very difficult to confirm, as removal of glowplug would have left some marks on the dashboard.

2. You seem to have the very rare Becker radio with the white pushbuttons... do not be tempted to fit a new stereo system to replace this gem.

I remember my uncle had a same model of car in Khi, RHD, off white color. it was sold in 1996 at aroung 230K. But it was driven once a week and All orignal, i can still remember the smell of leather seats once we sit in the car.
