thnx buddy well the story is like this i have a toyota corolla 86 which was used to be a family car now my big brother have buyed a honda civic reborn and i got the 86 it was running on cng and it have a 1500c engine but now i feel tht at any moment the engine will give up cuz on cng its fine but when running on petrol it produce knocking sound even on first gear so i decided to upgrade so i want smthing that is powerful then a atlis and reborn and premio and a good fuel economy

popular engines are 4afe,5afe

7afe a bit of 1 stage and it will beat altis and a reborn

4age 20 valve BT or ST will smoke both of them into last week

4efte 4agze(rare) 3sgte are all force-induced or in noob words turbo-charge engines anyone of them will smoke many of the big boys

@poster remember power and economy does not come together.
if you got a budget of 150k just for the engine punga.
get a 4efte,its a best swap i term,then 4afe,
others are overkill for a 86 without reinforcement.
@rocket mullah no,silver top can run at our pumpgas without any knocking and smoke issue as it has low compression as compared to b.t i presume.

if its fine on cng and knocking on petrol doesnt mean the engine is bad necessarily... get it tuned properly..

if its gone,don't build it,swap it with a 43fte.and enjoy.

just retard the car in petrol knocking issue will be solved .... and if u still want to swap an engine then go for 4afe... its 1600cc 16 valve.. work best in cng and petrol... if u go for force induction then forget about cng and economy...7afe and 4afe not a big difrence in hp... just torque difrence. and its not esay to beat reborn or altis or premio with 7afe ... its i think 115 hp and and 4afe 113 hp and i thing reborn is 138 or 140 hp new technology and perfect traction..

and @4efte's economy yes it cant run cng BUT!! it gives good fuel average as a daily driven motor,witnessed 14km/L in city.

3sgte is an overkill for 86,you'l need very heavy reinforcement and you'l end up in poor traction,handling,cornering.poor weight balance.
bad idea for 86.

u have a 3a in ur car i pressume ur chassis code will be AE80 !
go for 7afe or 4age 20v ST ! i have silvertop in my 86 running perfect ! i run it on cng because we have the most gatya petrol in out city
dont rev it more than 3k rpm in cng if u wana rev it convert it to petrol ! also 4age 20v st in good condition is half the price of 4afe 5afe 7afe ! economy wise its better then my previous 5afe as far as iv checked both in petrol and cng !

3S-GTE in rolla 86 - Bad move, I'd say!

Everything is possible, people have put 3S-GTE in Starlets but traction even with LSD is a major issue and the mileage you get is somewhere between 8-10kmpl.

I've used 4E-FTE in AE101 Rolla and I used to get 16-17kmpl in city with a light foot and a bit of boosting (you can't help it) and about 12-14kmph with a very heavy foot (every shift with boost).

I'd agree with Immad, that 3S-GTE for 86 Rolla is an overkill.

If you find a clean 4E-FTE motor it'd be the best decision, upgrade the turbo, FMIC, etc. It should be enough for you, unless you're into drags, etc.
