Greetings All,
I was wondering if someone could help me out in getting the engine swap for my Mitsu Galant 92.
It has the original 1.6 but that engine has gone in the land of no repairs. The crank had been causing problems for a while ad finally gave away. My mechanic tried to repair the crank and/or look for a replacement but no luck. Same issue with the oil pump.
The other option is to install a new engine. Frankly. i'm also leaning towards a new engine because the old one was in really bad shape. The person i bought the car from (around 1.5 years ago) had kept the car in very poor shape (mechanically). I mean, its a JDM 1.6 engine and that idiot had driven it on CNG ONLY for 2 years. Not a drop of petrol. Even the fuel lines were not connected and I got it done myself afterwards. Honestly, I wasn't as well-versed in evaluating an engine back then as I am now. In other words, us nay ch--tiya bana diya aur hum ban gaye : P
I had gotten the engine overhauled a year ago but even that didnt make alot of difference. So, rebuilding/repairing the current engine is just not gonna work. I'd rather spend a little extra and get a new one and avoid all the hassles.
Anyways, for the new engine, so far only one name has been recommended from multiple sources i.e. a dealer in Shershah called Tahir who is apparently the only go-to guy for Mitsu engines.
My question is:
1: has anyone dealt with Mr Tahir before and whether he is reliable. And that the engines he's selling are up to par.
2: He has quoted me a price of 65k for the complete engine (Mitsu Galant 92's original engine. 1600cc) in exhnage for whatever's left of the old one. Is this a fair price?
and finally
What kind of mechanical/electrical issues can I expect in the inital days after installing the new engine. A new engine might bring some new issues with it. it would be nice to know in advance of what kind of problems may or may not arise and what can I to ensure they are rectified.
thanks.
Cheers,
M
