Engine goes off after some time when AC is on

Hi! I have a honda city 2015 1.5 aspire. When I switch on the air conditioner, the engine works fine, after moving, when I slow down or stop in the traffic of at a junction, the engine starts to loss power and go off and after some time it completely goes off. What could be the problem....note that only happens when ac is on. otherwise it runs like a sports car.

You did not say how many km on the clock. When was the last time you had your car receive a normal tune up? that would include new fuel filter? plugs? new air filter? computer scan. etc.? the transmission oil is also changed but that has no impact on your issue. All this is done at every 40,000km for a 1.8 Civic. I am guessing it is the same interval for the City as well.

Ask the tech to have a look at the catalytic converter through the O2 sensor hole while he is checking your car.

thanks. It's 180K driven already. i had its tuning done twice. everything changed brand new. catalytic converter clean complete. except for the plugs that were good to go as per my mechanic. but the issue is still there. it made me so paranoid that i don't wanna trust any mechanic anymore. most them them are just seem to cash out money before they could reach to its actual fault. please can you recommend me someone who could help me get it fixed?

Sure I can recommend someone. Your 3S Honda dealership. They work on thousands of cars just like your on a yearly basis. Here is a story for you.

My mother had a Honda City EXi third gen facelift model with the fuel injection. My mother being not too wealthy and very aged, she did not pay any attention to her car and so not much service was ever done to the car. She gave the car to my sister who asked me to make sure car was fit to go from Pindi to Lahore. I took the car to my trusted 3S dealer who did a timing belt, new brakes, new hoses, new brake fluid, new coolant, oil and filter, new transmission oil, new CV joints (old ones noisy), new tires, new fan belts. Then the car driven by my brother in law to Lahore accompanied with a Toyota Prado in which my nephews and sister travelled. Half way to Lahore guess which car broke down. Hint: it was not the City.

sure thanks. I would sure take it to 3s honda. but i already spent alot of money on it. since i'm a student and it's hard to manage expenses in this economy. 3s dealer charge twice more than any repair center in lahore. maybe thats the reason i didnt went there yet.

Please let me add one more thing here. I traveled to islamabad from lahore a day ago. at the end as i was about to reach home again it gone sluggish with ac on the whole journey. Next morning i could't start its engine. upon general checkup its fuel pump was completely damaged. i had it replaced with the new one. now its performing well and better then before with applied stress on its engine. maybe it was due to fuel pump. but i still feel its losing power at some point. Thanks for the advice. I ll sure take it to 3s this time.

If you look at my post number 2 above, I asked you when was the fuel filter replaced. Fuel filter and pump is one assembly (at least on the Civic it is. not sure about the City). I had a feeling that the pump was on its way out. Anyway, use the car and if your stalling issue is resolved, no need to get the 3S dealer involved at this time. However, for future routine service, my suggestion is to visit the dealer in your area. It might be more costly than the local tree shade mechanic, but you car will not leave you stranded.
