Engine Not Starting/Misfires after Removal & Installation of Distributor Assembly

Dear All,

Am facing a real problem after re-installation of distributor assembly of my civic 88. Due to less space, the mechanic removed the assembly to replace the damaged heater pipe coming from the engine. After replacing the pipe he fitted back the distributor assembly, but the engine never started and misfires. He cleaned the rotor with emery paper and the tips inside the distributor cap with minus screw driver. All of you guys are requested to kindly advise me what to do, as the mechanic himself is confused. The battery was gone dead and re-charged, but nothing positive happened.

the idiot ass wipe loser have screwed up the firing order over the dizzy cap spark plug cables shall be rearranged as per firing order @SER_GTR @babarhyd

the rotor and cap are never to be touched with emery or sand paper.

Honda distributors are keyed, meaning they cannot be installed wrong. The plug wires maybe installed wrong though. As its older Honda, the cyl near the timing belt is cyl1, - the engine is timed as

1342 like regular firing order.

must had Safaaai the carbon from contacts beyond spec increasing gap ........

paa jee ne aisa saaf kia hoga ke spark might not be jumping or had cracked it....

Finally, a senior mechanic who works in Saudi Arabia and now days is in Pakistan on vacation, was consulted, who very kindly guided the mechanic step by step on cell phone while working on the problem. And finally, the engine started in half self (Alhamdolillah). No part is replaced, all old/stock parts.

and what was the issue?

these old honda also have a requirement of heatsink paste to be applied to the ignitor where it mounts.

Ustaad mechanics remove this grease/paste thinking that its dirt or residual oil.

Yes,

Autos use cheaper silicone grease based compound, as its waterproof and lower cost.

I have fixed a lot of funny driving cars this way, and some cars even use a solid state relay to control fans etc, same thing. It gets the paste.

Or if car has body mounted step down resistor, i apply the paste.

Anyone owning dawoo racer in pakistan. If you have a hot running misfire stumble or stallout.

Your icm is missing the paste, the icm is the semi circle piece in the distributor
