Engine oil advice Corolla Altis 2010 10th Gen

Assalamualaikum, My car is corolla altis 1.8 cruisetronic 2010 model, driven 90,000 kms. I've recently Added GUARD fully synthetic 0W30 engine oil to my car, previously it ran on shell 5w30 since beginning. The engine has no known issue and fuel efficiency is at par.
Some car experts suggest due to engine age/mileage I should switch to higher viscosity engine oil like 15W40. Even a representative at Toyota airport suggested the same.
The Toyota Corolla MANUAL does suggest 5W30/10W30, 15W40, 20W50 API grade SL,SM.
I seek advice on whether to switch to multi-grade 15W40 from synthetic 0W30 on my next oil change?

Secondly, my car barely runs 1000-1500 km per YEAR. what is the maximum No.of years you recommend before changing engine oil in Karachi.

I've been using Guard fully synthetic 5W30 in my 2019 1.6 Altis without any issues for 80000 km. I would not recommend to switch oils unless you are experiencing oil consumption. Even then I would not suggest changing to a thicker viscosity unless you're just trying to get a few more thousand km in before scrapping the engine.

With your low milage per year I'd suggest that you change the oil once a year. Oil will actually start to break down after a year and be less effective. Even abroad where oils are capable of running for 10k-15k km between changes, people are changing their oil at least once a year.

Thanks your experience is helpful, may I know where r u buying GUARD 5W30, I Tried to find it in guard Autozone CSD Karachi and online but only could get fully synthetic 0W30.
