Well this thread is very incomplete. I have read in another forum that paksuziku have stopped putting "10W40 recommended" label under the bonnet. Does anyone have any idea if they changed policy etc? also can anyone guide me whats the engine oil change time interval on an alto AGS. I am in process of leasing an Alto and i am gaining all relevant data to maintain the car right from day 1. If anyone has any answer to the right consistency to be used please post here. Thanks.

Stick to 0W-20. I am using it for past 2 years without any issue.
But make sure you use the correct oil filter because some dealerships install Wagon R oil filter because it's cheap and sometimes the Alto's oil filter is out of stock. The part number of Alto's oil filter is 16510-84MA0.

According to Pak Suzuki, fully synthetic oil can go up to 10,000 km or 6 months. Which ever comes first.
My Alto is a low mileage vehicle, so I change the oil and filter every 6 months.

Many people change synthetic oil between 7000 ~ 8000 km just to stay on the safe side.

yeah exactly what i was wondering. Synthetics don't denature so one can use them longer. i use liqui moly in my other car and the owner recommends change after 1 year or 10k kms.
but the question is does using 0w20 for 10k km voids warranty? any idea?

Yes correct. This is the recommended practice. If you don't change oil in low mileage vehicle, it can cause multiple problems like oil dilution with fuel, or water because when the vehicle is mostly used in short trips, it won't reach operating temperature and it cannot burn the contaminants. Carbon build up and sludge formation are common issues in vehicles used for shirt trips.
Some manufacturers even recommend changing oil at every 3 months in case of severe conditions.
Also it's best to use the thinnest possible grade which the engine manufacturer recommends. It reduces the sludge problem and improves fuel economy specially in case of short trips

I think it also depends on the type of oil used. Natural products have a short expiry while completely synthetic fluids last much longer. i wonder if adding any additives enhances the life of engine oil? Like we see in fuels, additives are added to stabilize fuel to keep it longer in the tank. I learned to use the petrol in 3 months as it has a shelf life being a natural product.

Yes, correct, synthetics do last longer, but I think many oil manufacturers do tall claims. On the other hand, engine manufacturers recommend shorter oil change intervals. Like I mentioned above, Suzuki recommends 6 months interval.
I read new Honda City manual, and it says to change oil every 3 months without changing oil filter. But change oil filter after 6 months. I think we should stick to what the engine manufacturer is recommending, not what the oil manufacturer is saying. This is the reason I don't like buying premium oils, which are very expensive because in the end I have to change it after every 6 months in my Alto.

First free service is due at 1000 Km or 1.5 months, this facility can be availed upto 1500 Km or 3 months whichever comes first.

Second Free Service is due at 5,000 Km or 3 months, this facility can be availed upto 6 Months (not exceeding 5,000 Km).

The vehicle maintained by Suzuki Authorized Dealers at 1,000 Km is eligible to avail 5,000 Km inspection and Labor Free Service.

Visit them now else the warranty will be voided, they will charge you if you haven't done the first inspection...

You have to get oil changed from them till warranty lasts...

They will put 10w40 in it... when you see them bringing the bottle of 10w40 ask them to put 0w20 and charge for the price difference between them...
