Engine oil for 25K driven corolla XLI

Hi,
I have corolla 2012 Xli (Petrol) , driven only 25000 KM, I have been using 5w-40 caltex fully synthetic oil, right from the beginning. I do not drive my car much as it is obvious from the 25000KM driven in 9 years.
So roughly in the whole year I drive under 3000 KM,
I change engine oil every 6 months, and it is expensive to maintain.
Please advise if it is ok to switch to some other fully synthetic oil like Castrol magnatec 5W30 Fully Synthetic which is much cheaper then caltex ? without effecting car engine ?

5w30 or 5w40. And mostly the change interval of 5w40 is 10000km.

5W30 should work great for your car. You can either use a fully synthetic 5W30 and change it after 6000KM or One year (max) or use any 10W40 (They cost less) and change after 06 months. I won't recommended any longer interval as engines are much expensive than oils. Always use good quality engine oil filter.

For fully synthetic oil, change interval should be 1 year if car is not driven much. Don't stretch beyond 1 yr period. For mineral oils interval should be 6 months max. Just a single oil change per year shouldn't be uneconomical so it is recommended to stick to 5w30/40 fully synth oil (Havoline, Total) or Liqui Moly if you go above..
