Engine oil for generator

If you can stick to havoline and your generators requirement is 20W50 then keep using it. Please remember to ALWAYS change the air and oil filter regularly otherwise (like every engine) there will be contamination and abrasion.

I'd not use it for very long in a car to he honest. But for generators running at low load and in gois condition at a constant speed you'll be ok for some time (not too long though as it's not got nany additives which will prolong oil PH or stability)

Yes it is very thick....... will replace after a week...but there is no problem with generator its running good

the main and rod bearings will fail very very quick

I have experience of using gas generator form last 8 yrs which ever oil you use it will not last for more than 2 yrs if used regularly and daily......if any one is using generator on petrol or diesel then a good oil 10w40 could be used otherwise any 20w50 is good

MINE is four years old and on ng 90% using zic a since day one still engine is 95% and been used with normal load but i never run it continues for 4 hours i give it a break of 30 mins then start again

Mine work day night even some times it is left running the whole night

May be I'm putting much load on it both portions work on it around 2000 watts all time on it .....this could be a reason for early failure........I got my generator overhauled this time let c how long it will.work there are new engines available in market for 10-12k will replace with a new one if it died soon

Sir its the oil
if u get new engine then sick with 10w40 i put load too like fridge and 5 fans atm also 2 lcds and its charging ups too with all this

what genny is this. I have ran old Honda 3KVA petrol gennies for 10 hours straight without problem.

I put extreme loads on my 5KVA- 1x 1.5 Ton AC, 1x Fridge, 1x LED tv, Fan, UPS and sometimes Water pump.
Works like a beast!
Even ran it for 18 hours straight. But, I religiously check the oil every 2nd day and change after 80 hours.
It's giving some blow now, need to get it tuned. Haven't used for the past 6 months, that's why, I assume

HONda to honda hai

3KV new honda costs around 1 lac now a days
PPL who have old models from 80 90s still work good with ng conversion

I got honda 5kva ep6500cxs for 130,000
Used four hours everyday
Pretty nice though a little noisey and oil consuming
I run 4 fridges ( 1 big, 3 small)
2 deep freezers
One water pump
The computer stays open:P
A stupid, fat sony 32 inch tv
15+ engergy savers and around 4 fans

MashAllah its been around four years, starting is always on petrol and convert to gas and run on petrol once a month for an hour.
Shell helix 20w-50 oil used and changed at every 82 hours
Recently overhauled its engine-around a month ago..

I'm thinking of switching to caltex 10w-30
