Engine oil quantity for oil change..?

can any one tell me that how much engine oil i should put in my engine of nissan march 2002 japenese 1300 cc as some oil changers were saying 3.5 and some said 3...so i am confused and also tell me that is it necessary to change oil filter ..dusring oil change

I change the oil at 2500kms. Oil and oil filter at 5000kms

@Soldier. Refere to your cars user manual, if not available then first fill three litres and check after 15 minutes if lelve is between low and high. If you find low oil level then pour half a litre more and again check with dipstick

Isnt 2500km a bit too soon? You should be changing it around 5k according to user manuals here. However, I change it 3000-3500 as the oil gets quite dirty by then.

Buddy, refer to the owners manual, or search online for it. Otherwise, filling it to the brim should be fine--?

soilder2000: CG13DE should not take more 3l.
just to be safe side put oil lower than F mark or upper dot on dipstick and drive and recheck after couple of hours.. a little oil lower on dipstick driven is ok for few kilometers than more oil than engine capacity

3.5l oil is what my 1.6l car engine takes.

@buksh, bhai always change filter with every oil change, otherwise it is of no use, putting new oil and passing it through a dirty filter!

@Levin. Rashid bhai my Khyber used to gulp 3.5 litres easily and my current 1298cc also takes some 3.6 or 3.7.

I must be wrong though I was saying just pour in the oil til it overflows, then suck out a bit with a syringe

Interesting your Xli takes 3.6L , my 1.6 VTi takes 3.6 as well. However my Altis 1.8 goes over 4 to around 4.2L of engine oil. Yep, every car is different- Mehran takes half a liter less than the Khyber (as you mentioned 3.5) and is just 200cc less..!
