Engine oil reducing

I Owen Prius 2008 it's milage is 200k, it's start reducing it's engine oil, after 3000KMs it's engine oil went to it's minimum level so I have to topup again. Currently I'm using 10W 40.

As I have a very bad experienced with Javed denso, he charged 4k just go diagnose the that the head unit is not working and needs to be replaced.

You're still using the wrong oil. Immediately switch to the the ones recommend by @tintin1 after diagnosis and repair.

ON your car, the Prius 1NZ-FXE is known to have LOW TENSION piston rings. After 120,000 MILES (200,000 KMS), the piston rings start to stick/get stuck in the grooves and you will loose oil compression and/or compression in general.

Only cure is to REPLACE all the piston rings with Toyota's updated part. They have changed the LOW TENSION piston ring design to a higher tension design, but you will definitely have to rebuild the engine and replace the piston rings 100% for sure.

You don't have to replace anything else; If you know a competent engine builder (which in this country is highly UNLIKELY), then you can tell him to open the engine up and replace just the piston rings and put everything back together. I would love to help, but I charge a fortune to do this repair by the book and I just don't have time at the moment.

Well the new design piston rings are around Rs. 26000 for the entire set. So we are talking two days worth of job at least.

I would only use 0W-20 or 5W-30 now that your engine is high mileage. Do NOT use a thicker viscosity because your engine tolerances are extremely tight and your oil clearances are very very thin. Thicker oil will cause oil pressure issues and create more problems for your engine. They designed a very tight clearance engine so that you could have the best fuel economy. Make sure to use SN type oil only. You can try using 0W-20 and change the OIL and FILTER every WEEK for 4 weeks and see if that can clean out the engine and piston rings sticking. Then try the 5W-30 oil and see if it helps.

One mechanic told me not to use thin oil, as the gap of pistons are filled with sludge etc, if we use thin oil it will drain out from the gaps or something like this.
