This question may sound a little absurd but I just gotta confirm it. The instruction manual of Mira recommends 0W-20 in winters and 5W-30 in summers but the common belief in mechanics here is Pakistan is that it was recommended for the Japanese weather and not for the Pakistani summers so we should use thicker oil to combat our heat. And when I ran a little research bit, it turned out that the highest temperature recorded in Japan was 41 degrees, their record high didn't even come remotely close to our average temperature in summers.
So it felt fairly logical, now some might argue that the temperature inside the engine is well over 200 degrees so what are additional 10-15 degrees? Well, when the temperature is 10 degrees higher, AC is on, heavy traffic stoping closely together, it CAN make a substantial difference to some of the not-so-new cars.
And if that's still not convincing enough then why are the thicker oils made in the first place? Especially 20W-50?
It would be great if someone can resolve this important concern.
Thanks
