always wrecking my head which oil is better honda genuine oil 5w 30 or 5w 40 caltex i have switched between them two times and both times i noticed that my honda city 2013 engine is more smoother and fuel efficient on 5w 40 and it feels like the flow of caltex oil is very thin and more fluid as compared with honda genuine oil 5w30 and i previously thought that 5w30 should be thinner or more flowy than 5w40 i have also noticed that kixx 5w30 is way thinner than honda genuine 5w 30 but i dont trust kixx oil koi bahi maryi yeh confusion door kar sakta hy k whether its my wahaam or it is like that.. many thanks

Different oils have difference performance. I believe recommended engine for your car is SN 5W30. Try any good oil and keep using the one you think your car perform better. There are quite a few options in this viscosity, Havoline, Total Quartz 9000, Valvoline.

2 Solutions to your problem:

Do tests in controlled environment (Very hard to pull off with limited resources)
Increase the sample size by talking to different City owners and then average out the findings

Bro i suggest u go with zic 5w20. Its the best oil I've used till now.

yes you are right bro .. i couldn't find it in my city almost i checked every single shop in gujarkhan and oil change was overdue so thats why went for 5w 40

It is better to use OEM recommended grade, for City which is 5W-30.
Any SN/SN Plus 5w-30 should be fine.

Used Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 for 1.5L City, it was working fine but changed to Valvoline synpower 5w-30 as i was not sure if Castrol was full synthetic or not.

honda genuine oil 5W30SN is made by Total Parco and is best in town. . .i am getting 20+ kmpL and dsatisfied. . .also in combo with honda genuine oil filter which is replaced after every 10k kms !!

as your model is old 2013. . .so you can either switch now to 5w40 or you can still use 5w30 for next 2 years until ur model is 10 years old and then switch !

thanks every one for the rep .. i know total 5w30 was good but not using it anymore for personal reasons...
i will use 5w30 havoline as said by another respected member...

its been 8 years the city has served me very good..want to keep it forever thats y was curious about the oil grade..

Same here. I have shifted to 5w30 havoline from total 5w30 and found havoline to be better.

thanks bro for the rep.. i think i will use 5w 30 as far there is no reduction in the oil level.. and my car is only 107000km driven .. what i have found is that total parco 5w 30 is thicker than havoline 5w40 in fluidity when the guy was pouring havoline 5w 40 into the engine i felt this oil is more fliud and thinner than total parko 5w30 oil i dont know much but i think 5w30 should be more fluid and thinner than havoline... thanks

Use havoline 5w30. I have used total 5w30 as well but caltex havoline is better though it is costly as it is not available in drum.
