Engine oils and ATF

Hi friends
This is my first post so sorry for any mistakes.
I started this thread /post because i feel like there is a need of undestanding or education regarding oil products and specs.
I want this thread to be general discussion for all models and make of cars. So please share all experiences and problems regarding engine and transmission oils changing or specs.

The best place and way to start is your owners manual.

Stick to what it says about engine / transmission oil grade and quantity and you should have no problems in the long run.

Only time you would deviate if you engine starts eating oil or you have a drastic climate change.

and read as much you can.

For Oils, study the website of API
(American Petroleum Institute) and has detail info http://www.api.org/

my concern was specifically for automatic transmission fluid changes. I noticed most people are not aware of atf fluid changes procedures as automatic cars are not very common or new automatic cars in pak market.
A friend of mine bought a new corolla in 2015 but he doesnt there is a dipstick to check atf.
