I recently got engine of my mehran overhauled. I reached out to a mechanic through a reference so i was expecting quality work and also i had asked him to go for best quality parts as i want to keep the car for about 2 years at least. So whatever he did and handed over the car to me after 3 days. Now i had to complete the running period. For the first 200km i had a very light foot, mostly short trips within city keeping speed below 70kmph.
Then i had to go out of city for a 250km trip. During the trip i kept upto 80kmph and for a short while i attempted to take it upto 100kmph but just for few minutes and then slowed down. Trip went fine. Now again back in the city few short trips of 10-15km. During all this time, car had thermostat and fan was on auto mode
5 days ago i went out for a small distance like 5-6km. On the way back to home, car started hiccups and then suddenly stopped. I tried to restart, few hiccups and then again engine died. Fortunately i was near the home but i had to push start it twice to reach home.
Next day on early morning, i checked the car and radiator was totally empty. I got a 1.5litre water bottle and poured but it vanished in seconds. There was no leaking. Sensing something fishy i called a nearby mechanic. He just pulled the oil gauge and it was stained with cream colored greasy material. Initial thought was a leaked gasket. However i was confident that there was no overheating indicated on the heat Guage. Tappet cover was open and inside was stained with same creamy greasy material. And he showed me a small cap like thing saying that it has come off from cam that has caused water mixing with engine oil.
So to cut short now that cap like thing (called tikki in his terms ) was again fitted by khiradia and after cleansing engine was again closed. But still that greasy material is coming out from the coolant portion and i have been instructed that it is remaining sludge from the tubings and will keep oozing out for some time. I have to do regular cleaning of the radiator coolant. So.
I all this scenario can someone give an insight
1. Why this happened? Fault during engine overhaul or just by chance ?
2. What further care should i take ?
3. What is the effect of all this event on newly overhauled engine ?
