Engine overhaul for 2011 Mehran

Salam

My office colleague has a 2011 mehru, which is releasing white smoke and reducing too much oil. Smoke is not thick but oil is reducing alot.

There is a leak in the engine-gearbox seal as well.

Quick knowledge and understanding says engine need Rings replacement only, right?. But our office mechanic says to get it properly overhauled in one go, and says to replace all, piston, rings, bearings etc making an estimate of 40k about.

I had a 91' mehru, and our old mechanic did a ring replacement work only, at 155k km. Which was done good and car ran a further 30k kms without any oil loss or smoke and 13 fuel avg. 30k km ke baad actually heat up hogai due water pump failure only.

So as per my experience only rings replacement should be done.

So is it possible that engine is opened and only the rings are replaced. What other parts may need replacement as per its condition?

Slight update:

My colleague checked with 3 different mechanics, and all of them have same stance to get full. Overhaul done for 35-40k

I don't know how its checked, but upon increasing rpms and listening, they all said the crank needs work, and that typical "crank awaaz kr rha hai"....

Share the model number of this mehru and also which grade oil is using in the car. plus is it petrol or CNG mehru ?

It had been used on cng previously.. i.e before buying it few months back... Now on petrol only...

Unfortunately 20w50 being used because mechanics, and my colleague doesn't listen to me. Oil reduction is half capacity gone in about 100km, not sure, but it's fast.

I just need to know, is the diagnosing method for 'crank awaz' correct?
Should we go for full overhaul or the rings only.

He is in hurry and wants to give the car to mechanic tomorrow only, while i m trying to save his money and the genuine\relevant work done only.

And, whats machining\boring... Is it and why required?

may I know which city you belong to? i can further guide you to check with some quality mechanic

as per my knowledge sometimes it's better to get a complete engine overhaul once it's open. as if there are other issues they might get resolved too.

Whenever there is a problem with the crankshaft it is obvious that oil reduction is fast.

crank normally starts emitting a kind of rubbing sound which a mechanic normally judges. due to this oil starts reducing.

Fufe you cant compare 91 model with 2011 model. your car is a solid car. anyhow I guess this 2011 mehran was not properly maintained.

Shuekh Gohar Ayub bhai is right in some cases its better to go for an overhaul. sorry, i am replying late. and I hope the car has now a new engine

Not yet... We will most probably giv the car to our office workshop guy on Monday

After overhaul should we insist for putting in 10w40 oil only, because thats what my mechanic did with my rings change on 91'

Bro as per my research after overhaul/rings change u should use mineral oil (20w50 or some grade). Once ur breakin period is over. You can use any synthetic one.
If u r going for ring change, do remember to hone ur cylinders so that rings can properely seat.

Dude I dont think so there will be a need for a bore in the engine block. because 2011 is not that old. It might need cleaning. I am not sure but there are some number or percentage ratio to measure how much bore is going to be done. Iam sure if its require bore. this will be for the first time for this car.

Actually the mechanic said he would take the engine to lathe wala, so I thought maybe for bore..... But now I think, it would be for facing the head or top of engine block only..... Not sure.

Can anyone guide me best mechanic for mehran 2008 overall bcz engine is give bad tuk tuk voice in morning and oil light turn off after 20 mints of engine start if we drive other wise if it stand start then oil light didnt turn off
