Engine overhaul or New Engine

Assalam O Alaikum Brothers,

I need an honest suggestion from you guys. I have ALTO 2005. Suspention, carburetor and brakes ka maine recently kam krwaya hay kafy satisfying lekin kch dinon se enigne mai se awazen b arhen smoothness bhy ni arahi car chalne mai, black smoke bhy ata hay and oil ajata hay plugs mai hr 1,2 weeks baad. Mechanic se ek pocha hay he said engine overhaul ka 33 total expense btarha hay including labour and all parts. As im not a pro or having knowledge of all this can u guys pls suggest me ke kia yeh sahi rates hain overhauling ke and kia krwana chye overhauling ya phir new engine lgwana prega and uske kia charges hotey hain nd knsa engine lgega phir. i need ke 3,4 sal tk phr engine ka kam na krwana pre.

Change your mechanic as he is just Trying to mint money off you. If there is black smoke coming it means you are burning excess fuel and that can be resolved by carburetor setting. When it comes to oil coming on your plugs change the O ring plug seals and valve cover seal as well.

This should not cost you more than 4k and is all the maintenance you should be needing. If you would like to be at ease then get a compression test done to see if your engine needs to be overhauled or not.

If your vehicle was timely maintained with regular oil changes then it is less likely that your engine would need to be overhauled/ swapped.

Take your car to any good mechanic and tell them to do it. What happens is that an instrument is attached in place of each spark plug to see the compression reading in each cylinder.

If the compression turns out to be low then you can confirm that your engine is weak. It is always better to test first and then preform an engine overhaul/ swap. If it is not needed then why waste money?

an engine from scrapyard is not a new engine. nobody know where & which car version it has come from. as suggested in above posts best course of action is compression test. if wet & dry values are under 160 psi engine needs to be overhauled. Suzuki made in Pakistan has every part available brand new therefore engine overhaul is very cost effective solution.

I estimate it should set you back around 30-50k in which parts would also be included with labour. Please make sure you go to a good mechanic as I have seen my uncle get his Mehran engine overhauled multiple times because of improper work.

NEVER pay in advance and always hold back money from labour / workshop and give it once you are satisfied with the work. You can ask in this forum and members can guide you to find a good mechanic in your city.
