Engine Problems!

Hey Pakwheelers.
So it seems to me like that i have been duped. I bought a passo 2009 for 15.5 recently on the advice of a car dealer who happens to be a friend of my brother's.
That was my biggest mistake because apparently he knew nothing about cars and only cared about the "putty and paint" situation.
First off, the cat is missing something that, being the expert he is, should have noticed but i digress.
The engine sounds fine but had he done a smoke test at high rpm, (i am only learning about these things) he would have seen the blue smoke that came out of the exhaust.
The average i am getting is horrendous, i think a 1980 merc would give me better average than 5.7km/litre.
I have changed the fuel pump, cleaned the injectors, replaced the spark plugs with long irridium ones. The engine does sound better after the spark plug change but there is still a slight issue of acceleration.
Gulrez and Bahria are fairly slopey so it is important that the car can go up these slopes.
I am not getting a check engine light but the acceleration issues at slopes, extremely low average and this blue smoke situation is making me want to just get a new engine and be done with it.
So my question is should i just swap the engine? I live in Rwp, so what is the best most reliable autoshop to get engine replaced ?
Also any ideas about estimated cost ?
PS: car has 160k + on the odometer and engine is using 20w50 oil right now. Turning AC on does make it sluggish.

Make an SOP to get a Pakwheels car inspection in your own presence before buying a car to avoid these problems.
Just don’t install an already used engine from scrap and do a proper research.

I did find a car and got it inspected. My plan was to get cars inspected before buying but my brother insisted that his friend knows better..turns out he did not know a single thing.
You live and you learn i guess.

Your brother friend knew much better thats why he got you this car as he also took commission from other party. This is my theory as no one in this business is this fool that he cannot even differentiate between good and bad engine condition.
I will recommend you that now first get it inspected from Toyota Dealership so they can diagnose the problem. It might be the case that engine doesn’t need to be changed.
Or if it needs to be changed then get it changed from Toyota as the local sellers in market will give you the warranty of only 5k to 10k kms so thats not worth it at all.
Moreover, if you are getting an engine from a local seller get it tested like the compression test etc. Experts can guide you better in this regard of engine testing

i have seen a up model passo compared to yours with no check engine light but issues
at the back of the speedomenter generator light was soldered up with check engine light

This is my very first time buying or maintaining a car so i have no knowledge of good workshops, mechanics or even what to look for in a car hence why i decided to trust that car dealer. ..plan was to buy a new alto but then the prices skyrocketed and went out of this galaxy so..!

this blue smoke situation

Blue smoke from exhaust is a bad sign. It means the engine is burning engine oil, and usually it's a sign of a worn engine that require complete overhaul.

Yeah that's what i read. It does only come out at very high rpms though.
The extremely poor mileage is also a sign that's telling me that the engine is gone. 5.7km is terrible for passo.

Some good news, avg went up to 7.6 today from 5.6-7 after the spark plug change.
Still giving me acceleration issues on uphill roads tho and obviously target for avg is 10 min.
Will definitely go and get a thorough checkup.

pay a visit to either of the members mentioned above for deep diagnostics.

you may need new PCV valve, engine oil change to 5W-30 and scanning to dig out history of error codes.

I have some news..and good ones at that.
So i went to Toyota Experts near Gulberg. My cousin has a 2015 passo and he gets his car checked from there so they came recommended.
Turns out the car's race (acceleration?) was set too high, so he set it back to normal. When he did, the AC started tripping and turns out the choke was not working due to which the engine was not producing enough power.
I guess the previous owner took it to someone that instead of solving the issues applied local jugaars.
Thankfully there was only a wiring issue with the choke so he fixed and lo and behold that car started accelerating like it should and the average went up to 12.5 from Gulberg all the way to Scheme 3 via airport road.

PS: while the mechanic near me told me that the engine is weak, Toyota Experts did a compression test and told me its in good shape. They also scanned the car and checked fuel pressure which all came positive.

PPS: turns out i was a little too harsh on my brother's Friend..guess his expert opinion wasn't that bad after all. Still mad about the cat which might be a Rs40k hit at this time due to high inflation.

Yeah, that is not a good sign but if the engine still has some 50-60k miles on it left then i guess it's better at this point to leave it.
This is my very first car and engine swapping is sth i want to avoid with my complete lack of experience in workshops, mechanics or what to look for in a good engine since it comes with no guarantees

Same story with my brothers vitz which was reducing engine oil. Mechanic said that engine is shot and you would need overhaul or replacement within 2 months. It's been 5 years and the car had been to kaghan naran several times. Engine is reducing engine oil which needs a top up that's it. So moral of story is; if something is working fine don't fiddle with it and visit only trusted mechanics.
