these days, most of mechanics opt for engine replacement instead of rebuild/overhaul : ( sadly because it is easier for them to just buy a used engine and install it instead of the tough job of overhauling it. I see most of the cars ads (especially Honda City 2004-08) they have their engine replaced.
The problem with replacement is you have to update the new engine number on your car's documents (if you will play by the rules), otherwise some mechanics engorge the old engine number on newer one (the illegal way ) ..
khair, the real thing is to find a trustworthy and able mechanic who can perform the overhaul (or rebuild) well ... because it requires more hassle and precision... if the mechanic does a bad job, you will end up following up with the mechanic to fix the engine afterwards and spend more money on it : (
dani_kk on our Pakwheel forums is known to be an expert in his craft from Islamabad, he says he has rebuild a lot of engines with guarantee.
i would suggest to go for an outside well-reputed mechanic for engine rebuild rather than the Suzuki 3S workshop, they are known to do bad jobs at much higher rates : (
