Initially I was thinking that its one of your friend ride as you mentioned earlier . !!
If you do not satisfied with the workmanship of your mechanic and not sure that he is able to re do your current engine than you can go for 1KD swap .
But make sure that the engine you getting is really low in KMs and saving money is not a priority . Than go for the 1KD swap as staying diesel is good for your car value.
From which guy you buying the engine at Dry Port as I use to know most of them at times and quite in touch with few at the moment as well .
I try to give you number of one of them as he use to bring lots of KD engine from Thailand .
You can get price advise from him as well and I will try to ask him to help you if he can . Though he is a very busy Bloke . But a nice human being .
And you can still get some handsome money from your current engine at the end as you mentioned nozzles and turbo are ok .
That guy can help you in that as well as on dry port usually they do not give guarantee .
I am happy that you start thinking on right track .
Rest keeping and maintaining 1Kd is do able do not worry .
driving a Turbo is a blessing mind it.
