Engine Tuning Basics for Beginners

Im a new bie when it comes to car regular maintenance, trying to enhance my knowledge. Can any one please elaborate in detail what is engine tuning or tune-up? What is exactly done in it? When should we get our engine tuned, means if there is some issue or regular intervals and what are these intervals? I recently bought a japanese japanese wagon R 19 model which is about 28k driven. The car doesn't have any issues and is giving me 17km/l in Islamabad. A friend of mine suggested me to take it for engine tuning at 30k kn and then after every 10k km. Unfortunately there is no car manual or maintenance record available for the car. What do u guys suggest?

Periodic maintenance is different than tunning. If your car is runing perfect, no need of tuning, but you must do its maintenance like periodic oil and filter change, cleaning of some parts, checking some parts, etc etc Whereas tuning is to tune up your vehicle if its giving you poor mileage or performance.

So in ur case, the car is ok, just go with normal msintenance and take note of everything you changed. Observe any abnormal events.

Ask your friend what he meant by tuning….
