Salam Pakwheelers,I recently discovered that the joint leading to my car muffler has broken along with the weld holding it from one side. I would like to ask is it dangerous to drive the vehicle without a muffler and what can be done to repair it so it doesn't happen again.
Is not dangerous but it will cause increased noise and may cause undesired side effects. The heat from exhaust may also damage nearby components. Go to any exhaust workshop and get it welded, replace muffler as well if existing one is corroded. It's hardly a 30 min job.
Wa Alaikum Salam.
I suggest you get it welded, or replaced altogether.
Driving with broken muffler / silencer may not be dangerous, however, it can cause loud noise, which can be quite irritable to others.
In some cars acceleration is also negatively affected so if your car starts lagging in speed, this muffler could be the reason.
An update:Had the the exhaust pipe changed leading to the muffler as it was severely rusted and had many joints in it. Luckily was able to get a clean exhaust pipe that was pretty solid from the same shop ( orignal pipe ).Total expense was 3000rs to weld and fix new pipe leading from the resonator to the muffler. The pipe costed me 2000rs and around 500rs for the rubber hangers to hold it in place. The muffler is genuine so i made sure it was not changed as well as the resonator. Went to Jail road to the silencer person next to the bridge. If anyone needs exhaust repairs to be done I would definitely recommend the shop that I went to.
Any name of the shop?
@hassantaewra I don't recall the name but as soon as you come down from the jailroad bridge take a u-turn and it should be the first or second shop to your right.
