Exotic Bikes in Pakistan?

Hi,

After 20 years of absence from my homeland, I must admit that I was quite amazed to see the Pakistanis' buying power has exploded exponentially.

Saw BMWs, Mercedes, Landrover, and some other nice cars on a daily basis.

Even passed in front of an Islmabad estate with 3 x Porches in the driveway.

Wonder how the market looks on exotic bikes. You know, bikes like over 1liter...GSX-R, R1, CBR etc...are these rich boys' toys?

I imagine the tariff is not cheap.

I currently enjoy a Ducati Multistrada....1098s is on the way too.

Living in Japan, you might question why I don't ride a domestic superbike, but couldn't resist the beauty of this Italian girl.

welcome to pakwheels, there are some real big bike nuts on these forums so i dont think you will have a problem finding fellow enthusiasts.

Good guess. I actually wanted a black 1098s since I already own a red Multistrada. Because this red beauty was a shop demo, I took it off the lot with a small discount. 1098R looks good too!

yes, I am already starting to spot some enthusiasts in this forum. More to come? This 1098s is lightning! It just lifts the front off the earth from anywhere. Believe it or not, even Multistrada is a bullet. It only has 95ps on the motor, but the OHLINS shocks do the magic at the twisties.

welcome to PWBD (pakwheels bikers departement :P)... the bike scenario in pakistan lurks about the 400-600CCs...however a number of 1Ks are present in the vicinity of big cities like ISLAMABAD...LAHORE...KARACHI..QUETTA..as im in multan i mostly see 400s...it also depends upon roads...like here in multan its very difficult to put your bike in 3rd gear at high revs...coz when you are about to do it...behold...a donkey cart appears out of nowhere and you have to brake like hell...apart from that other factors are there...like there is a MONOPLY of bike suppliers and MECHANICS...in multan i know a couple of mechanics who will empty ur pocket for changing a screw...and their reason is...WE ARE THE ONLY ONE HERE SO PAY OR GET LOST ( a bit harsh i know ) and the bike suppliers are selling bikes like u buy a 1 rs. candy for 50Rs....but in the end i might add that in the grim situation pakistani bikers are in...all which matters is...there are PAKISTANI BIKERS

I am having the mechanic put some extras on this 1098s, as soon as it's finished, should be in my garage. A bit cool weather yet here in Tokyo, but I can manage for a ride.

Can't really tell from the thumbnail pic, but is that ZZR that you've got? The graphics and fairings looks like one.

In Japan, from license view point, over 400cc is categorized as "Large 2 wheel license". To get this license, you literally had to pass the test of a military standard given at government's test course. But now, you can get one at the driving school, which has contributed to the public's interest into over 400cc category.

Japan is a small country with a mountain terrain running in the backbone. There are lots of nice twisties to play around on weekends.

The mountains behind the city of Islamabad seemed to be a fun place to ride, I thought. Didn't see much riders there though, except for those small local bikes.

I would opt to take my Multistrada if I were to do a cross-country Pakistan.
